Default Disney / BV with LPCM

I was looking at picking up some of the older Disney / BV releases eg: The Rock, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Con Air, Bad Santa, etc and was looking at the reviews on this site and most rated well for their audio tracks

Now I understand LPCM 24-bit/48 16-bit/48 is the same as True HD and DTS HD-MA so I am not after a semantics debate about encodes, but I was interested to hear your thoughts whether a few years on would they still be rated so highly if reviewed against the current catalogue releases, also happy to hear any thoughts on the video quality also.

PCM is uncompressed DTS MA and Dolby True HD are lossless, some of the best soundtracks are PCM, Black Hawk Down, Pirates of the Caribbean and Casino Royal original release just to name a few.

I believe the Curse of the Black Pearl to be one of the best video transfers still.

Both DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD soundtracks start life as raw PCM, until it is fed to the software encoder. PCM was largely dumped so the studios could save space and cram useless bonus features on the BD.

Thanks guys I understand how each of the codecs are alike, just wanting feedback from people who have seen these older disney releases to understand whether the audio would still be rated so well,as it seems some of the older video reviews weren't marked down as heavily as more recent catalogue releases as people's expectations have gone up in regards to EE, DNR, etc.

So I was just interested to hear whether people still feel these titles up there, as we don't see many LPCM releases these days since Blu-ray has matured...

Thanks for the Pirates update
