Default How to Pick a Power Conditioner

I just recently invested in some new HT gear and want to protect it. Ive been looking at Power Conditoners and there are so many different models and price ranges form $100-to over $1000.

I have no idea what to buy. I hear APC is good but Ive also read that there is some problems with plugging subs into it.

I just purchased a pair of Def Tech Bp-8040's and a CS-8060 Center that both have powered subs in them so I dont know if APC is a good choice, do other brands have these kind of problems.

How do you pick these things, do I really need a $400 unit when there are $150 APC units, what am I getting for the extra money.

I need to plug in a TV, receiver, 3 front speakers, Cable Box, PS3 and xbox.

Thanks in advance.
