Hello everyone. I need to get a new 3d movie to watch with my buddies. Will be watching on 120" screen with a 3d projector. Between Tintin and Hugo, both blind buys, which would you recommend for story visual effects, sound and 3d. What is the best movie in general and why. Thank you.

My answer?: Who the heck are WE to tell you what to do with your money?
![]() If you'd asked "Tintin vs. Happy Feet Two", or "Hugo vs. IMAX Arabia", it would be an easier question to answer-- But Hugo vs. Tintin? Flip a coin, they're both good; it's a win-win situation. If one's cheaper on Amazon, buy that, and wait for the other to come down. If that takes too long, buy one and rent the other, I hear you can do that now. |

Hugo is the better film and it has the best 3D of almost any Blu-ray. However, it's a slow film and is more "artsy" than an adventure film like Tintin. It's not something to watch with your friends for fun.
But TinTin is more exciting and the 3D is also very good. It's like a 3D Indiana Jones. It won't fill a 16:9 screen like Hugo will, but it should still be a lot of fun for a group. I recommend both because they're two of the best 3D Blu-rays available. They have the best 3D, and they're really good movies(ones you'd actually watch even if they weren't in 3D - sorry Sammy) |

Since you said watching it with the boys, you gotta go with Tin Tin. Much more fun but not quite as good in the 3D department (even though it's still very good) as Hugo. Hugo's a great story to me and a better movie IMHO, but Tin Tin has more action and such, much like an Indiana Jones flick.

I've pre-ordered Hugo 3D (release date 02 April here in the UK) and I'm really looking forward to this more than any recent 3D movie. I am actually glad that its slow moving and artsy, perfect for 3D and I like slower movies anyway...plenty of time to reflect on the characters and storyline, enjoy the 3D and not just be bombarded by a wall of images and sounds like in a lot of other movies. Was tempted by Tin Tin too, but the 3D trailer looked like a mixed bag with regards 3D. I like my 3D extreme.

I own the 3d of Tintin and I saw Hugo at the theater. I thought Hugo was
a better movie. Tintin isnt bad but its more of a kid show. |

For good 3D with a nice adventure, Tin Tin. I voted both if you can afford them, or when they're on sale. Personally, I'm waiting for a good sale for blu ray 3D, say $20.99 or so. |

Tintin is awesome. First movie to make me forget that I'm wearing glasses and watching 3d, everything is done perfectly that the 3d doesn't stand out from the movie but is awesome at the same time. Hugo is 3d and sets, it has a story that goes nowhere, characters that you can't care about and no ending. It's not a movie, merely an advertisement for 3d.
