Talking NBC's Civil War Drama 'The Crossing' with Martin Henderson and Rachelle Lefevre

This is just crazy, two active co-stars of the same show, just signed on for another show as co-stars. That doesn't happen too often....I have been following this premise since announcement since I am a huge Civil War buff, but I see no way in hell they make this on network tv....

Quote:
Written by Josh Brand and directed by Peter Horton, The Crossing is set in a Missouri town during the post-Civil War Reconstruction era and centers on Jason (Henderson), a Civil War soldier who crosses the country and settles into a complicated town where he is welcomed as its savior - whether he likes it or not. The casting is in second position to Henderson's current series, ABC's softly-rated mid-season drama Off the Map. Coincidentally, The Crossing's female lead is Henderson's Off the Map co-star Rachelle Lefevre who is also in second position to the ABC medical drama.

Sounds really cool but really wish all these shows would end up on cable as this show I see no way it's going to work on network. This doesn't look like good news for Off The Map though which I enjoy.

I'm also a big Civil War buff and I agree I just don't see this making it on NBC the premise has a "Deadwood" feel to it. Which I have only seen here and there in reruns. Much like the 1960's "Playboy Club" show that NBC is working on both seem like a perfect fit for say an AMC or even a TNT. Not sure how it will work for a network broadcast unless NBC which seems to not be able to find anything to compete on a nightly basis in the ratings is hoping that fans of say Mad Men, The Walking Dead or the as mentioned Deadwood turn in for these two programs.

Deadwood was an amazing series I've seen it completely through probably 4 or 5 times. I'm sure being network, they will treat this like all high school history books, all southerners where slave owning war mongers, and that's why there was a war.

Bill Sage (Precious) has landed a co-starring role on NBC's drama pilot The Crossing. Written by Josh Brand and directed by Peter Horton, The Crossing is set in a Missouri town during the post-Civil War Reconstruction era and centers on Jason (Martin Henderson), a Civil War soldier who crosses the country and settles into a complicated town where he is welcomed as its savior. Sage will play the Grey Ghost aka the Colonel, a disfigured former Colonel in the Confederate Army with prematurely grey hair who lives nearby in a sumptuously appointed cave - his base of operations to wreak terror on the townsfolk.

Knowing NBC, probably. I don't know what happened because they rocked in the 90's. Besides the Office, I can't think of one good show on their part in the last 6 years or so.

Well Friday Night Lights was an NBC show, and a huge favorite of mine. I also love Chuck, Parenthood, Community and Parks & Rec, so they do have a lot of shows I love. I just have no faith in them doing a historical show accurately or keeping it on the air for very long, as they stole 'Life' from me way to early!!! Not a week goes by where I don't worry about what the ratings mean for the future of my favorite shows.

As am I. The Crossing has loads of potential. Come to think of it, there are several promising new shows for this coming fall. I'm really hoping a couple can break on through to multi-year success, but I suppose that is asking a lot these days.

I think there are 20 pilots I want to see in the Fall, but don't expect even 2 of them to make it to air or stay on lol.

I saw that, it shows there not really trying to be very historically correct. I doubt the people writing this show has ever heard of John S. Mosby and Mosby's Rangers!

They've already renamed the show, why not just go with Carpetbaggers?

Emma Bell Joins the 'Reconstruction'
Quote:
Emma Bell has been added to NBC's drama pilot Reconstruction (formerly The Crossing). Written by Josh Brand and directed by Peter Horton, the project is set in a Missouri town during the post-Civil War Reconstruction era and centers on Jason (Martin Henderson), a soldier who crosses the country and settles into a complicated town where he is welcomed as its savior. Bell, repped by ICM and Brillstein, will play a strong-willed woman who denounces Jason as a coward. She recently recurred on AMC's The Walking Dead.

Not liking the new name and think it's an even bigger turn off for this show. Which knowing what network audiences like this show's going to need all the help it can get.

Yeah I don't see this show lasting long on network. You would think after years of good shows being canceled on network they wouldn't even bother and just stick with cable for shows like this and keep the crap for network.
