Talking FX Orders 'American Horror Story' from Ryan Murphy

Quote:
Before they co-created Fox's Glee, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk were executive producers on FX's Nip/Tuck, which Murphy created. Now the two are returning to the cable channel with American Horror Story, a drama project that was just ordered to pilot. "American Horror Story is a wildly brilliant original series," FX's president and GM John Landgraf said. "Ryan and Brad Falchuk, who created it together, are evil geniuses and, in the spirit of the great Louis Armstrong, ‘Hello, Dolly, well hello, Dolly, it’s so nice to have you back where you belong…’”

Murphy is set to direct the pilot for American Horror Story, whose premise is being kept under wraps. Filming will begin in April after production on Glee wraps. Murphy and Falchuk previously teamed to write the daring FX pilot Pretty/Handsome, starring Joseph Fiennes as a transsexual father, which was also directed by Murphy. FX ultimately passed on it, but it has high hopes for American Horror Story - should it get picked up to series, the network plans to start production in late spring for a fall debut. 20th Century Fox TV, where Murphy and Falchuk are based, is producing, with Murphy, Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto executive producing. Murphy said he and Falchuk had been discussing the idea for American Horror Story for a while. Separately, he had had "an open invitation" from Landgraf to develop a new show for the cable network. "FX is the perfect place for this series and we look forward to a great homecoming,” Murphy said. He was quick to reaffirm his commitment to Glee. “Fans can rest assured that we haven’t taken our eyes off that ball for a second," he said. "We’ve broken the stories for the season’s remaining episodes and we’ve got big things planned for our little glee club as it strives to make it past Regionals to the all-important Nationals competition in New York City.”

That's what I was thinking. I watched every episode of Nip/Tuck and outside of Robert LaSardo in the early episodes, I could never figure out why I even watched it lol.

Meet the 'Freaks' of Ryan Murphy's Top-Secret Horror Story Pilot: Who Would You Cast?
Quote:
Though we still may not know what exactly Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s American Horror Story is about, we at least are beginning to find out who’ll be in the FX thriller. From the latest intel making the rounds, I can reveal that among the characters are:

Ben Harmon | Though as sensitive as a woman, this 40ish therapist is also a man’s man. (Paging Stargate: SG-1’s Ben Browder… )

Vivien Harmon | Ben’s gorgeous wife, she is a force to be reckoned with in spite of her vulnerable demeanor. (The breakdown suggests a young Susan Sarandon; I suggest Buffy alum Juliet “Drusilla” Landau.)

Violet | The Harmons’ 16-year-old daughter is a goth with more issues than a Borders magazine rack.

Tate Langdon | This 17-year-old is as dangerous as he is seductive. And not “Glee’s Puck dangerous,” either; we’re talking “Charles Manson dangerous.”

Hopefully this will separate Murphy away from Glee so the show's good writers can actually get in there.

But yeah I agree with you, this sounds like everything else that has been done many many many times. There are so many excellent fall pilots I'm looking forward to and this is not one I will be watching. But I do feel it is my duty to report the news. "Just the facts ma'am"

Connie Britton To Star In Ryan Murphy/Brad Falchuk's FX Pilot 'American Horror Story'
Quote:
Friday Night Lights star Connie Britton has lined up her next TV series project. She is set as the female lead in American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's drama pilot for FX. Murphy is set to direct the pilot, from 20th Century Fox, which will shoot next month, after Murphy and Falchuk wrap production on Glee.

FX and the producers are keeping the premise of American Horror Story under wraps, but a breakdown for the pilot lists its main characters as Ben Harmon, a sensitive therapist, and Vivien Harmon (Britton), his gorgeous wife who is a force to be reckoned with in spite of her vulnerable demeanor. Murphy and Falchuk are executive producing American Horror Story with Dante Di Loreto.

Britton continues to be attached as a producer to another FX project, a David O. Russell drama, now in development. It is unclear whether she would star in that if it comes to fruition.

Denis O'Hare Joins 'American Horror Story'
Quote:
Denis O'Hare is set to co-star opposite Connie Britton in American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's drama pilot for FX.

O'Hare will play Larry, also referred to as "Larry the burn guy". It is unclear if the "burn" part is metaphorical or living up to the "horror" portion in the title of the show. Murphy and Falchuk are executive producing American Horror Story with Dante Di Loreto. The pilot is being eyed for a fall series launch on FX. O'Hare, who co-starred on HBO's True Blood last season, has been recurring on CBS' The Good Wife.

Connie Britton is an underrated actress and Denis O'Hare was awesome on True Blood last season.

Note to Glee Fans, if this shows takes off...

When Murphy gets a new toy, the current one gets neglected.

Being a Nip/Tuck fan, I got to witness this 1st hand.

The final season was quite painful to endure, Murphy basically turned his back on it and it was all about his "new" baby Glee.

Or what I like to call it Popular II.

Jessica Lange Joins American Horror Story
Quote:
In a major casting coup for their FX drama pilot American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have tapped Jessica Lange to star in a lead role opposite Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton. This marks the first foray into series television for the two-time Oscar winner.

The premise of American Horror Story is kept under wraps, but a breakdown for the pilot listed two main characters, Ben Harmon, a sensitive therapist, and Vivien Harmon (Britton), his gorgeous wife who is a force to be reckoned with. Lange will play their nosy neighbor.

Murphy and Falchuk are now rewriting the script to expand the role for Lange, turning it into a full-fledged third lead. The cast also includes Denis O’Hare as Larry the burn guy.

Murphy is set to direct the pilot, from 20th Century Fox TV, which will start production later this month, after Murphy and Falchuk wrap production on Glee. Murphy and Falchuk are executive producing American Horror Story with Dante Di Loreto. FX was already high on the pilot, with president John Landgraf saying that he was targeting it for a fall series launch. Getting a marquee name like Lange in addition to Britton is sure to further boost the projects’ chances for a series order.

Yeah it will be nice to find out what the show's actually about. I also think they haven't finalized all the details when they keep things under wraps as IMO keeping a pilots plot secrete just doesn't make any sense at all. I mean a movie's plot or ending I understand but a pilot is just not something I would think of keeping a secret.

Connie Britton's American Horror Story Hubby Is…
Quote:
After an extensive search and lengthy negotiations, Dylan McDermott has been cast as the male lead in FX's drama pilot American Horror Story, from Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Additionally, I hear FX is also making a deal with McDermott to develop, write and potentially star in another series project for the cable network. In American Horror Story, the Practice alum will star opposite Connie Britton and Jessica Lange.

The premise of the project is kept under wraps, but a breakdown for the pilot listed two main characters: Ben Harmon (McDermott), a handsome and masculine but sensitive therapist who loves his family but has hurt his wife, and Vivien Harmon (Britton), his gorgeous wife who is a force to be reckoned with. Lange plays their nosy neighbor, a role that has been beefed up after her casting. The pilot also co-stars Denis O'Hare. The script was written by Murphy and Falchuk, with Murphy set to direct. Production on the pilot, from 20th Century Fox TV, will start after Murphy and Falchuk wrap production on Glee. Murphy and Falchuk are executive producing American Horror Story with Dante Di Loreto. FX was already high on the pilot, with president John Landgraf saying that he was targeting it for a fall series launch. McDermott, most recently starred in the TNT cop drama Dark Blue. Coincidentally, McDermott's American Horror Story co-star Britton also has a second series project in the works at FX. She is attached to star to a drama from David O. Russell.

Taissa Farmiga, Evan Peters Round Out Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story
Quote:
Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, meet your new demon spawn TV daughter.

Relative newcomer Taissa Farmiga (kid sis of Up in the Air star Vera) has been cast as the troubled offspring of Britton and McDermott’s characters in American Horror Story, the FX drama pilot from Glee EPs Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

Additionally, Invasion and One Tree Hill grad Evan Peters has landed the series regular role of Tate, a patient of McDermott’s shrink character who is described as “Charles Manson dangerous.”

The Horror ensemble also includes Oscar winner Jessica Lange and True Blood‘s Denis O’Hare. Not to shabby this group.

Alexandra is starting to become very in demand, and I am highly happy with this as she is talented and incredibly gorgeous. Too bad her pilot didn't get picked up, but she's finding plenty of other shows to appear in anyways.

Quote:
Six Feet Under alumna Frances Conroy and Alexandra Breckenridge (Life Unexpected) have been tapped for a role (yes, a role) in FX's drama pilot American Horror Story, from Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The spooky project centers on Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott), a handsome therapist who, along with his wife (Connie Britton) and their kids, move into a new house. Conroy will play their housekeeper, while Breckenridge will play an younger version of the character. Both Conroy and Breckenridge starred in broadcast pilots this season - Conroy in the ABC comedy Bad Mom and Breckenridge in the CW drama Cooper and Stone.

Shelby Young Gets Mean for 'American Horror'

Quote:
"Glee" co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are ramping up the casting on their FX pilot, "American Horror Story", booking Shelby Young in a recurring role as a "mean girl," writes THR.

Young, whose credits include The Social Network and "Days of Our Lives", will play Leah, a pretty senior and leader of the mean girls who torment Violet Harmon (Taissa Farmiga).

"The mysterious thriller revolves around husband and wife Ben (The Practice's Dylan McDermott) and Vivien Harmon (Friday Night Lights' Connie Britton) who move their family from Boston to a haunted San Francisco home in an attempt to rebuild their family after a miscarriage and affair."

Frances Conroy and Alexandra Breckenridge recently joined the cast -- both playing Moira O’Hara, a housekeeper who has worked at the haunted home at the center of the drama for years. Moira will appear as a woman in her 60s (Conroy) to Vivien, while a younger version (Breckenridge) will appear to Ben.

Young joins a cast that includes Evan Peters as mysterious teen Tate Langdon; Jessica Lange as the Harmons’ nosy neighbor; and Denis O’Hare as Larry the Burn Guy, a former resident of the home.
