Default Jaden and Will Smith to co-star in M Night movie

Quote:
Jaden Smith is set to star opposite his father, Will Smith, for director M. Night Shyamalan in an untitled sci-fi adventure, Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, announced Monday.
Set 1,000 years into the future, the project centers on a young boy who navigates an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes.

Shyamalan and Will Smith will produce with James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith and Ken Stovitz, Smith’s partners at Overbrook Entertainment. The screenplay is by M. Night Shyamalan and Gary Whitta.

“Night is an outstanding filmmaker who has a tremendous vision for this science-fiction adventure story and we couldn't be more excited to be working again with Jaden after our experiences on The Pursuit of Happyness and The Karate Kid,” Belgrad said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have the two of them together on this project.”

Added Shyamalan, "The chance to make a scary, science-fiction film starring Jaden and Will is my dream project."

Jaden and Will worked great together in Pursuit Of Happyness but why do an M Night movie? IMO M Night has not made anything worthwhile since Signs.

Jaden and M Night = perfect match.. based on his latest movies..

W. Smith would have gone well with his earlier work when M. Night was actaully somebody I looked forward to.

Of course my expectations are so low now that it could be good, aside from Jaden being in it.

Well I don't think they would have put Will Smith in it, who is actually pretty good. I think they would have use all three crappy elements and maybe put in Nicholas Cage.

You know that sounds like the ultimate crap fest, M. Night Shimalyan, Jaden Smith and Nicholas Cage embark on a magical epic journey.. but with a dark secret twist.

From the director who brought you The Happening, we present The Sprinkling.. "you'll never feel the same about salt and pepper again".

Name once when you thought about a team up between M. Night Shamalanadingdong and Will Smith. I've never did.

To be honest, Nic Cage is more believeable.

The big twist is going to be that Jaden and Will Smith's characters are the same person! **MIND IS BLOWN**

Not one, but TWO "Smiths" and M. Night Shyamalan....... I'm not sure if I should laugh, cry, or pick up a pad of paper and start writing a Jack Black and Zack Galifniakis comedy.....

...It's sure to be a Titan!

(And let's see, going by alternate projects, this would be Will's "Coolest Guy in the World, with his Shoot Everything Free card...Does he look like he cares what people think? " project--
Which means after this, we should get his "Suffering urban martyr of society" story next, and....yep: "'Joe', a modern day version of the Job story", unquote. Which would be hilariously satirical if I was kidding. )

We'd spare a lot more pain if they'd simply keep Jaden from ever doing movies again. Kill you and he still goes on to cause suffering.

I doubt Will Smith would sign on unless he thought this was an M. Night rebirth.

And what's with the Jaden hate? Honestly, are you guys serious? It's a little kid! Grow the heck up. His performance in The Karate Kid and Pursuit of Happiness was certainly great for a kid. Get over yourselves.

Unbelievable! It's a little kid! Wow, people in this world! If he turns into anything like his father, he's going to have a long and successful career.

Anyway, back to the movie. Who knows? I LOVED Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense, and Signs. I also liked The Village. The Happening and Lady in the Water were crap, but I never go in expecting suckage. By the way, I thought "Devil" was really good, which M. Night was a producer/writer for.

I have doubts of an M Night rebirth. The guy made a couple good movies but his last 4 or so sucked pretty bad. I am sure Will may think the script sounds good and it may but it's still directed by M Night so it may turn from good to crap.
