United Kingdom Salon Kitty (Tinto Brass)

Tinto Brass' Salon Kitty has received a preliminary release date: May 9.

PRE ORDER

Synopsis:
Quote:
Berlin, 1939: At the dawn of World War II, power-mad SS Officer Wallenberg (Helmut Berger of THE DAMNED) is ordered to find and train Germany's most beautiful women to work in the opulent brothel of Madam Kitty (Ingrid Thulin of CRIES AND WHISPERS). Here these Nazi nymphs will submit to the bizarre passions and carnal degradations of the Reich's highest-ranking men and women while Wallenberg secretly records their acts for blackmail. But when an innocent young prostitute (Teresa Ann Savoy of CALIGULA) uncovers the conspiracy, her revenge will ignite a holocaust of pain, pleasure and shocking sexual perversion. The story is true. The depravity is real. The film is SALON KITTY.

John Steiner (MANNAJA), Tina Aumont (TORSO) and John Ireland (RED RIVER) co-star in this infamous epic co-written and directed by Tinto Brass and featuring exquisite production design by Oscar winner Ken Adam (BARRY LYNDON, GOLDFINGER). Released in America as the heavily censored MADAM KITTY, this controversial shocker has been fully restored from the director's own personal vault print and features extra scenes of sexual atrocities now presented for the first time ever.

Is this the first Tinto to be released on BD after Caligula? Are we getting them on a notoriety basis? Thanks for the update ProB.

I am assuming that the films that will make it to BD in a near future are only the ones for which there are already existing HD masters. So far there are five that I am aware of (none of the early ones though, such as Action and Attraction).

Obviously, Paprika is the one that I believe needs all the special attention it could get as all previous SDVD releases - Italian, French, UK, and U.S. - are very problematic.

I'm pretty sure I have an e-mail somewhere from Cult Epics saying that they are going to work on getting some Tinto Brass out here in the States.

The Blue Underground issue is missing the still galleries and the DVD ROM book on the real Salon Kitty that were on the limited US double DVD, so there is scope for better extras

But the presentation of the main feature is the most important thing, right? I'll choose a bare bone release with superior picture and audio quality over a extras packed release that looks like crap any day.

Salon Kitty was passed Uncut in 2004 and all previous cuts were waived.

I wonder have any Blu-rays been altered or cut or recieved a higher rating because of the superior picture quality over DVD and video?

Absolutely, I just thought it was a bit stingy of Blue Underground not to include all the stuff that was on the double DVD, the still galleries wouldn't have taken up more than a couple of mb.
