Revanche (2008) - Blu-ray Forum

I just got my copy of the blu-ray version of Revanche. I haven't seen it yet, but it has gotten really high reviews and scores thus far. It's supposed to have a stellar video transfer scanned in 2K res from 16mm film in pristine condition.

Anyone seen or getting this share your thoughts.

I have the Criteron "Revanche" blu-ray, but I decline to comment on it because it says your location is Georgia, yet you have a TN Volunteer avatar.

Anyone speak some German? I'm not fluent by any means, but I understand a good bit of it from high school and college and I try to keep it up as much as I can by watching movies like this and listening to music. Of course it helps a lot when the reviews for the movie itself and Video encode get high marks.

I'll be watching it tonight. I'll post a user review as soon as I get time after.

And yes I live in GA and went to college at UTenn.

I rented and watched it a few nights ago, and I though it was a simple, but though provoking vengence tale, which the thoughts that the characters think makes their decisions more intense by thinking of them. The Characters regrets become revenge against someone who feels just as guilty about such a grim situation. Don't mistake it for a whis-bang thriller, or you may be disappointed, but you have to be pretty impatient to not enjoy this.

i watched on netflix a couple days ago and loved it, will definitely be adding it to my collection at some point.

Hmm, I've adjusted all my video settings and aspect ratios, but for some reason I'm having inconsistent and oddly placed subtitles. Anyone else see the subtitles too low where stuff is getting cut off at the bottom? Also, I've noticed the opening dialog had no subtitles and a few scenes in between.

Just watched it 2 nights ago. Loved it. It was a blind buy for me, but I had heard great things about it.

For those that say it was slow, yes, it was, but how does that make it a bad movie? The story was intriguing and it pulls the viewer in. Great movies make you care for the characters and their situations, and this certainly does the trick.

I also watched Criterion's Gomorrah tonight. Incredible film as well! I have not been let down with any of Criterion's releases thus far, especially those out on Blu ray.

Revanche was one of the first Criterion blu-rays I purchased and it's still one of my favorites. Great movie!

are you using some sort of zoom function on your tv???? I had no problems with mine....... what player is it also?

Yeah, I know if you have one of the OPPO players there is a subtitle adjust option after one of the firmware updates.

Yes, that is intentionally done because the female prostitute character is Ukranian and is speaking some dialect of Russian which we're not supposed to understand since it is an Austrian/German-based film. She speaks a lot of broken German(?), as well.

i've heard a lot of things about this film. and they all seem to be good things. i may have to put it on my "possibly purchase" list. although i will have to read up on it since this is a Criterion Collection (correct?) and some of the films CC puts out i have little interest in.
