Default The War on Blu-ray?

I'm watching this documentary by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick and I am absolutely glued to the TV.

Does anyone know if there are ANY plans to bring this to blu ray some day? This is a must have in my eyes.

Paramount is a distributor. They do not control the content.

I just recorded The War with my HD DVR.

I hear it's great.

How does that change the dynamics of who gets to decide if it is released on blu ray or not?

They don't need to own the content, just the distribution rights.

If they own those rights, it will come out on HD DVD if at all. Or BLU in a couple years when they realize their mistake.

it could be that simple or not. It depends what rights and how much authority they were given. For example Paramount already said that the HD DVD only cannot apply to Spielberg. They could have the distribution rights to DVD only, the agreement could be a temporary one and PBS owns them and can change at any time……

Yes, but with all do respect to Burns, he's not Spielberg and this is a PBS film. We're not talking about Star Wars here. The distribution rights won't be that complex.

There's a simple formula. The more powerful the players, the more complex the deal.

But, we'll just have to wait and see.

It is already out on regular DVD, I doubt anytime soon for it coming out on HD DVD/Blu-Ray.
