Default Cleaning your stylus

Guy who installed my new cartridge yesterday recommended i use play doh to clean the stylus by resting the needle on it and lifting 3 or 4 times and and i tried cyber clean .

Better then spending 80 bucks .

http://www.needledoctor.com/Onzow-Ze...2&category=214

That dirt is from new cartridge with about 3 hours of play on clean records .

I'll be interested to see how exactly you use it at our next GTG.

Very easy , i took the piece that you saw and took the felt pad off and held on to it tightly and dropped the arm on it 3 or 4 times .

i hear Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work well for dropping the needle into.

but if you move it, it will rip the tip of the stylus off, I guess it would be the same for any stylus cleaner.

I think I'd be worried about my stylus getting stuck in the Play Doh and being ripped off of the cantilever. I'll be sticking to cleaning my stylus with a stylus brush!

What I hate is when the styles hits the vinyl sticker. I had to run to my player as it had already scratched thru it. Not all records have a stylus loop at the end of the album.

And some would go over it anyway when the inner sticker is pressed off centre.

I have seen this before and was thinking about trying it until I got an Onzow. Speaking of which, I don't know if this is going to be helpful to anyone, but a friend of mine living near Kyoto got the Zerodust for me for under 2300 yen (under $25). She said it didn't seem like it was on sale (I thought they were just clearing it out). Maybe it is just cheaper in Japan, which is not very typical. Anyway, if you know someone there, maybe ask them to pop into some record stores to check prices... though it is still more expensive than play-doh

I'll sell you mine....it's a great device, and works very well, but I prefer just using my stylus brush and liquid.
