Quote:

THE HUCKLEBERRY HOUND SHOW-The Complete Original Series (1958-1961)

COLOR (with B&W commercials)
Aspect Ratio 16x9 1.33:1 with side mattes
Audio Specs: DTS-HD MA 2.0 Mono
Running Time: 2175 Minutes (approx.)
Subtitles: English SDH
NOT RATED

Special Features: HUCKLEBERRY QUOTES: The Remix: Music Video Celebrating Memorable Hound quotes, HUCKLEBERRY HOUND: A LINGUISTIC MASTERPIECE: Houndspeak as Humorously Interpreted by a Linguistics Professor, THE LEGENDARY SOUND OF DAWS BUTLER, an affectionate remembrance of the brilliant voice artist who lent his talents to voice Huck and Yogi, among many other beloved characters.

Rediscover one of the most beloved good ol’ hound dogs ever in this comprehensive anthology of Hanna-Barbera’s landmark animated series THE HUCKLEBERRY HOUND SHOW. This complete collection presents all 68 half-hour episodes – following studio broadcast records as a guide - as originally aired during the series’ four seasons on television. Meticulously restored from 4K scans of original 35mm negatives, everyone’s favorite blue hound dog never looked better. The cool canine charmed early TV audiences with his unique personality, a slow southern drawl and fast wit that’ll win over audiences of all ages. Viewers also got familiar with Pixie and Dixie (and nemesis Mr. Jinks the cat, who hated meeses to pieces”) and future icons Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo, as well as later shows which introduced the irrepressible Hokey Wolf, all of whom starred in their own segments.

To faithfully present these episodes as originally aired, you’ll be able to enjoy each show containing original bumpers and bridges, as well as rarely seen vintage commercials featuring the characters from the series. A timeless tribute to the talents at Hanna-Barbera, including voice artists Daws Butler and Don Messick, this new collection enables you to experience the adventures of Huck, Yogi and their pals just as they first burst on the television scene decades ago, and proving that their animated hi-jinks remain as clever and entertaining as ever.
The complete original opening (in black and white):

The new restoration as seen on MeTV Toons has most of the original opening (the Kellogg's Corn Flakes advertisements have been edited out):

That's amazing news. The old DVD didn't even include half of these episodes, so this will be a massive upgrade.

I'm really dying to know what they're going to do with the Bumpers. MeTV Toons ran some, but there are many that were on the old DVD and on YouTube that they didn't run.

I don't know if WB didn't give them to MeTV Toons, or if the programmers considered Black and White or faded 16mm to be unairable, but I hope this new Blu-Ray includes as many as possible.

I didn’t realize this had so many episodes. Boomerang didn’t run it super often when I was a kid; I mostly know Huckleberry Hound from his appearances in HB crossover content like the Laff-a-lympics and his 80s TV movie (The Good, the Bad, and the Huckleberry).

Also that abridged opening makes no sense. Without the Kellogg’s advertising, the Corn Flakes rooster is just a random bird that inexplicably stars in the opening without appearing in the show.

George will push for them not to be stacked. I’m not sure exactly how this will be packaged, but I guarantee they won’t be stacked.

Even back in the day I don't recall Boomerang airing much of the other segments outside of Huckleberry and Yogi. I only learned about the other segments from the Cartoon Network Groovies or Shorties that would often air in between shows on the channel. This was before the 2015 rebrand that did away with all of that, too. This is going to be the first time I'll actually see Hokey Wolf in a restored, watchable quality.

What makes this more astonishing is just the inclusion of the Hokey episodes, since a good portion had Indian stereotyping. I presume that is a factor of why the DVD stopped at volume 1. It brings me a bit of hope of some of the stuff that can be released on other related animation series, especially the Looney Tunes, which is missing shorts of similar themes like Nothing But the Tooth, Slightly Daffy, and the 1969 Cool Cat Indian short.

But yeah this will be quite the huge set that I'll be willing to dig in for quite a while, especially to hold out later animation releases.

Don't forget the infamous "Judo Jack" Pixie and Dixie segment...

I doubt it'd include the Kellogg's plugs (except maybe the bonus features), though.

This is a must have, although I'm slightly curious about the original stock music as I heard some of the background music for the old HB shows were tied up in some legal stuff for years. Hopefully this release means those issues have been resolved.

For me, though, the holy grail of those old HB cartoons is Quick Draw Mcgraw. Hopefully this means we might finally get a home release of that show.

I have heard things from people who work at MeTV Toons. They do have the sponsors and MeTV Toons cut around/didn't air them because if they did it would violate current FCC rules (sponsors in children's programming are now forbidden). They will certainly be on the Blu-Ray release as they were restored along with the rest of the show.

We never got the whole show on DVD, so this is great. It gives me hope that a few other things that didn't make it to DVD might on Blu. Really hope Yogi isn't far behind at this point.
