The other problem is that there's lots of people who don't know how to read press releases and other industry memos trying to interpret them

Inexperience can lead to panic

Would people be interested in an "Ask the retailer" thread liek the insiders, where questions about that side could be answered?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Amazon still lists it: Master and Commander

Everytime someone reads something on a pro HD DVD site that is anti Blu-Ray people come on here demanding the insiders answer to it. Why don't we wait until news of a delay comes from a CREDIBLE source?
The guy in the OP is just a retailer. He has no Insider knowledge but pretends to. Looks like HIS SUPPLIER is not getting things in on time, perhaps he should change cause to me it looks like everything he is saying is delayed is coming in on time everywhere else. I doubt all the titles he mentions are getting delayed without any official announcements.

No, it looks like the information is real. The Blu-ray.com "official" distro news guy (Moretonbay) just confirmed M&C has been delayed indefinitely. This is just two weeks before release!

Insiders: As of today, we've had 4 discs (1/5th the total) from the Fox/MGM announcement removed or never given to retailers, and two with specs reduced. Is Fox going to pull everything yet again? If you can get word, I'd rather hear it now rather than the day before like the CES announced titles. I'm tired of Fox's tactics, and if their "response" to Paramount was never intended to actually happen, then it's time they stop deceiving us.
I think Fox's announcement of the 30 or so titles was premature and ONLY came about due to the Paramount announcement. I think they may have just "bit of more than they can chew" and they may be having issues on the production side of things and they have to line up which titles get run on which days and they simply are not going to be able to do everything they wanted in time for the holidays.

This would also answer the question "why are all these other titles getting delayed?"

I think the studios are taking up most, if not all, of their "line space" in order to replicate enough quantity of the "big-gun" titles like Die Hard, POTC, Spider-Man 3, Harry Potter, the list goes on.

Not tryin' to pee in anybody's Cheerios, it just seems like the only real answer. It's not that big of a deal to me if I have to wait a little longer for Life of Brian or Master and Commander as these titles are NOT that important to me. But, they will be released, eventually.

I'm sorry, but I can't accept that. Why drop a known quantity, well-liked (and profitable) action adventure that's actually from this decade but not, say "Edward Scissorhands" or "The Fly", which are good films but low-selling cult classics from 15-20 years ago?

Agreed, I think it has more to do with the special features they want to do on M&C rather than replication slots. But what do I know.

M&C was supposed to be out last May. I still hold out hope we''ll see M&C this year. Maybe by the time it hits, we'll actually be able to get to the DTS-MA?

Why announce a title unless it's ready to go into production? They announced it when it's only 2 months away from an actual street date and they did so knowing the "guts" and special features were NOT ready yet? I doubt it.

If that's the case Fox should NOT have included the title in the line-up. I guess we will all have to wait for an "official" announcement on this one.

Moretonbay is not "official" anything on Blu-ray.com
