This was just okay. It started out good enough, but it just got exhaustive by the end, and the final 5 minutes or so were paiful as they stretched and milked the material for all its worth. I didn't know this was a biopic going in as I'd never heard of Diana Nyad before. On some level I respect her mentality not to give up, but she's also clearly a bit neurotic, and completely self-absorbed. The end credits showing the real people were probably the best part of the film, and to the filmmaker's credit, they seemed to do a pretty great job matching actors to their actual counterparts. I wasn't that impressed by Bening acting here. Physically speaking, she put a lot into the role, no doubt, but her acting lacked any real emotion behind it. I also feel the script and dialogue was rather weak, especially in the second half, which did not help. Jodie Foster was pretty good, but my favorite performance in the film was from Rhys Ifans.
