Default Looks like HD DVD is running a marathon ....

on Amazon. All those jagged lines just make me laugh. Blu-Ray is SO CONSISTENT, if that were a heartbeat, I think I'd be dead. I love my format! I hope those HD-DUD fanboys know how to say "I was wrong and you were right" when this is all over.

Actually if you look at the Top 100 for the past 90 days both formats have peak and valleys at the same time.

ha ha - its not even close. I looked at the last 30 days also for the top 100 and they were close that 1 or two days Blades of Glory came out, but were still under us, and just a few days later the landslide in our favor was back on again - LOL Personally I thought that movie sucked anyway - come on Sony and announce Superbad by Christmas.

Yeah, but Blu is still on top, and that's all that's important.

And bring on The Simpsons Movie as well ......

I just found it interesting that regards of movies or anything else when one format has a spike the other does as well. That would lead one to conclude that title releases don't really make that much of a difference.

the simultanious peaks and valleys with amazon ranking have nothin to do with hd title releases, it has to do with DVD title releases and pre-orders. when their is a slew of DVD preorders and releases it affects the HD sales dramatically as a crap DVD can still outsell a good BD or HD DVD. so when you see both formats tank, its because a bunch of DVDs just ran ahead of them in the rankings.

The spikes are for when new releases are out (or when there is a sale). Since Blu-ray, DVD and HD-DVD all release on Tuesday they all spike at the same time.

Well, what I was trying to say I guess was that I can't see any one title - say Transformers - causing that big of a difference the the graph. My mind is mush, maybe I am not making sense as to what I am trying to say.

The graph is funny, why is the ORIGIN (0) at the top left and the numbers go up as they descend down the column?

as if any of these graphs matter.

These formats are selling so little comared to standard dvd that it almost makes no sense for the studios to keep selling them. I know they're banking on the future and all that but they can't be making much money.

I 2nd that-what are you doing in this or any other high def. forum with that kind of thinking.
People thought the exact same thing when there was nothing but VHS and they came out with the 1st dvd player-now what's #1 VHS or DVD.

The same thing is going to happen with DVD and Blu-Ray

Eventually blu-ray will dominate.

It's dominating now.

Decimating is the direction it's headed.

What's the data between two huge changes that I see on the 60-day graph?

Huge jump at the start, at 7-17, where HD-DVD leaps up, and then a huge drop at the end, around 9-11, where it just drops down significantly. Any event that rationalizes these large shifts? These are just larger than usual.

I'm just interested in the "what the hell did HD-DVD do" to jump up and drop down like that. I basically 2 months, they undid all progress that they made since 7-17. Although, in contrast, Blu-Ray is not any higher than it was on 7-17, but at least it is consistent, instead of peaking and then falling.

The HD-DVD rise and fall is just...wow...

And I think we have seen that Amazon tends to UNDERSTATE BD's lead over HD DVD compared to Neilson.

I think they have different distributors for each format. It would explain the huge number of Blu copies and the strange up/down movement.

Either that or DVD users place the orders and after realizing their mistake cancel.
