Default Supercrooks (Mark Millar Comic Adaptation - "X-Men meets Ocean's 11")

Also Hit-Girl is getting her own Spin-Off Comic...

Source: IGN

Quote:
There was exciting news for fans of Mark Millar this morning as the all-conquering author of Kick Ass, Wanted and Superior announced four major new projects at Kapow! Comicon.

The first reveal was that Hit Girl, the pint-sized dervish of death and destruction from Kick Ass, is to star in her own eponymous spin-off book, with work on it already well under way.

"What I wanted to do was just use all my Hit Girl ideas in the comic," Millar told IGN afterwards.

"It's horrible. It's all of the most horrible things that I couldn't fit in Kick Ass, but I've loved doing it."

Next up was Supercrooks, a playfully conceived collaboration with Leilin Yu. It tells the tale of a group of villains who decide they've had enough of the frustrating attentions of America's superheroes and decide to escape to Madrid for their last big score.

"It's like X-Men meets Ocean's 11," says its creator, and a "beloved" Spanish film director already has plans to film it on location in his home country. Millar expects the production of both to happen simultaneously over the coming year.

And a busy year it looks to be, too: as well as those two books he's also teaming up with heavyweight artist Dave Gibbons, who will be lending his considerable talents to a new production that promises to be a departure for them both.

"It's actually a spy project, which is new territory for us but we've got a new take on it - we've deconstructed the spy genre in the same way that Kick Ass deconstructed the superhero genre."

He also promises "a character unlike anything you've ever seen before in comics."

It seemed very much as though the secretive world of espionage has left an impression on Millar, as he's keeping the details of his fourth and final project very close to his chest. What do we know? Only that it will be his first collaboration with kinsman and artistic superstar Frank Quitely in ten years, and that it will be a multi-volume epic "like Star Wars".

But rest assured: as soon as the cat comes trotting out of its bag, IGN will be all over it like a rabid neighbourhood dog.
