I'll be going to see this in the cinema for sure. I'm a fan of Snyder, and this seems a bit like his own Kill Bill, where he throws a bunch of genres together in one film. Hope it's good!

Zack Snyder confirms an R-Rated 18 min longer cut for Blu-Ray

Quote:
Mad Men's Jon Hamm has an extended cameo, playing two roles: a high-rolling patron who frequents the cabaret in the fantasy of Babydoll (Emily Browning), and a doctor who specializes in performing lobotomies. Those who see Sucker Punch may wonder if some of Hamm's scenes were left on the cutting-room floor — and Snyder confirms that there was indeed one more sequence with the actor, excised from the final act (lobotomized, if you will) in order to secure a PG-13 rating. What happens in the scene? He told us... but it would spoil wayyy too much. But yes, an R-rated director's-cut DVD is indeed in the works.
Quote:
Snyder (here with Malone) wanted to — and was obligated to — deliver a PG-13 film. While there is no nudity or sex and very little blood in Sucker Punch, the intensity of the sexual themes and fighting kept earning him an R rating from the MPAA. Snyder says it took him about seven passes — and cutting 18 minutes of fighting alone — to finally get a PG-13.
From what's being said, the Directors Cut won't be as strong as other Snyder films, as he was still aiming for a PG-13 rating.

Damn! I knew I should have waited! I bought tickets for this at The IMAX and spent a lot, only to read this.

I'm thinking of doing the same actually. Though I'm dying for another trip to the cinema soon.

Even though the theatrical release has been quite heavily edited I'm still going to see it, to see if I'll enjoy enough to get the Blu-ray. I much prefer seeing something in the cinema prior to getting the Blu-ray to make sure I'll like, because I think blind buying new releases is just far too risky when the prices are so high.

Saw it today and I really enjoyed it, despite the bad reviews. Will definatley be buying the Blu-ray. I'm surprised it has a release date already though.

@Foggy: I hadn't considered a Director's Cut. Hopefully there'll be more Baby Doll/Sword action.

Saw it yesterday and thought it was the biggest pile of shite I've seen in quite some time.

'Dull' doesn't even begin to describe it. I considered leaving 40mins into it.
How does someone manage to take such interesting visuals and make something so boring?

I liked the soundtrack, that was about it. Would maybe work as 3-4 minute music videos, but not stretched out to 2hrs. Christ, no!

I'm really hoping they will release a nice Collector's Edition or something for this movie! Haven't seen the movie (yet) but it looks so cool!
