I wanted to watch this but the only English-friendly release appears to be from Taiwan, and I was unsure if the subtitles would be accurate, so I went for the Japanese Blu-ray and also purchased the Australian DVD for the subtitles, as I was concerned Sony might have censored language for a PG-13 rating. As of this writing, there is no UK physical release.

As it turns out, the Australian DVD uses American English subtitles, presumably the same ones on Sony's DVD-R release (there is a single use of "f*ck" in the subtitles, although it seems to be translating "scheiße" ("scheisse") which is usually "shit") and the subtitling is important due to the frequent use of German surnames and general academic / technical nature of some of the dialogue.

I found some information on the Spanish BD over at the MundoDVD forum here, and while it is a BD-50, it has a few dubs and apparently some forced subtitles, while its extras are probably only in German. I also decided I wanted a Region A release to play on my Oppo UDP-203, which is locked to Region A for Blu-rays, so I went with the Japanese release.

The 4:3 image and 5.1 audio are both excellent, and while it would have been nice to get the extras from the German and Spanish discs (or even a special interview extra as Japan often does), hopefully a UK or US release will come to the rescue eventually. For now, this is a good stopgap.
