Default HBO's Mildred Pierce

I couldn't find a thread on this, so I figured I would create one. Todd Haynes is behind this five-part mini-series. The cast is pretty strong, with Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood being the big names. Here's hoping this is another great HBO mini-series.

Anyone else plan on watching this?

Premiere date: March 27th

I did not watch it but it sure has been getting a lot of commercial airtime. I've seen advertisements for it for a good month. I'll probably check it out once it hits Blu. HBO always does a great job with their mini-series.

I thought it was great. Haynes' films are always fascinating and sumptuous, whether he's in melancholy, subdued, retro mode (Far from Heaven, this) or full-on experimental & loud (Velvet Goldmine, I'm Not There). Winslet is, of course, terrific. I can't imagine anyone carrying this series better than she did. The supporting cast--Wood, Guy Pearce, Melissa Leo--are in top form. Just a very satisfying, poignant, dark mini-series.

Love Winslet too, and I'm a fan of the original with Joan Crawford, but I don't have HBO. I'll have to wait a year until it comes out on blu I guess...

Winslet made the movie and I think David Weyner, (an opera authority and former executive at classical labels including Polygram and BMG) who selected the operas sung by Veda with the beautiful voice of Korean coloratura soprano Sumi Jo, was simply amazing! I can't wait for this to come out on BD.
