Default Are TV series waste of money in HD?

Unlike a movie, you will most likely watch a complete season only one. A film can be watched more than once without getting bored, however, a TV season has multiple episodes and after a while it gets boring. They are also much more expensive than movies in HD. I believe it would be better just to buy TV series on DVD only. I on the other hand, would never waste money on TV series on HD nor SD, unless it a documentary, for example Blue Planet. Do you agree?

I don't know about you, but I happen to love Arrested Development, The Office, Reno 911... tons of other shows too. And each one I'd gladly watch more than once, in fact I believe I am on my third or fourth time of watching Arrested Development.

There are a lot of series that can benefit from HD that I would watch more than once. Soprano's, Battlestar Galactica (sci-fi version), Star Trek:TOS I would definitely watch more than once.

Well, I will only buy cartoon series in HD, but not live action TV series; they get boring after a while. I will buy South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurerama, and SpongeBob in HD. I love SpongeBob.

I would definitely buy Lost, 24, Sopranos and X Files in their entirety if and when they are released on Blu-ray.

I can handle 1.33:1 for the first 4 seasons of X Files.

Firefly? X-Files for HD? You better beleive it? All depends really on the show and the individual's taste. I wouldn't buy King of the Hill on HD, but some of the higher quality programs would be a real treat! Oh hey, don't forget "Joey" on BD! (as Dr. Evil would say... "Rrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiight"!)

BSG for sure if Universal would just get with the program. I also would like to see Dexter released on Blu. Anyone know who has the rights to that? Since it's a Showtime series, it would be nice if it's Lionsgate like Weeds

Definitly, most TV series on DVD are a lot crappier than DVD in term of Compression. The best CE for DVD is Buena, their DVD release are really good. But others suck hard, Warner and Fox are 2 prime example of thing NOT to do when you overcompress a TV serie...

Now you have to understand that i have a 90 inch screen so...

Most of Rescue Me :S3 on BluRay look better than 95% of the release out there... Lost S3 was shot entirely on HIGH DEF CAM (Vs Film on both last seasons)

Edit: Since Paramount owns the distribution rights for the DVD set, I would guess that if it's brought to HDM, it will probably be on HD DVD.

I'll gladly buy most television shows I like on Blu ray if released....even King of Queens as I know I will be watching everything more than once and there are others in my house other than I. Plus I'm sure it will condense space with a disc or 2 less in the Blu ray sets and any quality improvement, no matter how minimal will be worth it to me.
Right now I won't buy much of anything on Blu though unless they start releasing from season 1 or announce they will be releasing the earlier seasons. I don't want my television series broken up into standard and Blu, I want them all on one or the other.

Some TV shows are gonna be great in HD.

That said, most of the DVDs I buy these days are TV shows, since I don't expect them to be better in HD.

Shows targeted for HD like 24, Lost, Veronica Mars , CSI, yada yada yada would be most interesting on BD I think.

You don't have to buy them, you can always rent them. And if remastered correctly, any tv show has the potential to look really good in HD.
