Default PSN forum

Sorry if I missed an announcement, but is the PSN sub-forum gone for good?

agreed. too many changes seem to be implemented just out of the blue, and then often switched back with no word either way.

I noticed it last night, but figured asking about it wouldn't do anything other than perhaps receive a snarky comment in reply, so I just let it go.

It has been merged into the main PS3 forum. The community gaming forum is now the place where multi-player and online gaming can be discussed.

Oh so PSN related threads now go in the main forum?
That's cool with me.

Any League or Tournament threads of any game for the PS3 should have a NEW thread located in the Community Gaming section.

The standard or main thread of any game that's going to release should be about the game in general, features, etc.

Hopefully this keeps online game play separate so it doesn't congest the main thread.

Understood. It is confusing however. An announcement or a sticky would have been appreciated.

Regardless, thank you for the information.

We felt that PSN games are becoming very important to the PS3 and that they need better coverage.
While Susan Coffey is a great choice of avatars and I don't disagree with that statement I don't think the move was the best idea for that reason. Seems counter-productive to that goal IMO. PSN game threads will get lost in the retail game threads this way

That's what I was thinking. Games like Stacking will be long gone in the regular section with the likes of Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, all sports games, etc. being posted in regularly. I'm sure the argument for it was that not many actually went to the PSN forum so they were moved, but now they'll just be completely buried in retail releases. Seems like a lose/lose to me. And in that case, I'd rather just have a separate forum where those PSN games can get on the front page and people don't have to dig around to find them.

I agree, it makes no sense. Not that that matters, of course.

The PSN board didn't really get much traffic. Putting PSN games back into the main section will ensure more people participate in the topics and see updates when the thread is bumped to the first page.

We can see last 4 days on the first page, PSN threads won't be buried I would think. If only people would stop starting a new thread everytime they get an error message on their PS3...

Personally I didn't go to the PSN board much except when I saw something interesting in the last post made (because it shows up on the main forum). This is a good thing imo.

This was the exact reason we made the change.

I agree. The pros seem to outweigh the cons, on this one.

I figured lack of traffic to the sub-forum was the reason, but how many PSN game threads are on the front page now? I bet I can count it on my hand. I think it's even a bit pathetic that the highest PSN-related thread is a discussion on PSN-related threads.

It seems to me that more people won't participate in the thread unless it is bumped with a firmware update, DLC, etc. Many retail threads like Killzone 3 and GT5 have continuous discussion but small PSN games don't have people that are going to participate regularly in those. I know many, like myself, aren't going to go out of their way to hunt down or search for the Stacking thread to drop a casual comment on it, but since something like the Killzone 3 thread is almost always at the top of the front page, more people comment on it. I think in the long run this will actually discourage discussion. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see threads for Stacking or PixelJunk even coming close to the front page regularly, if at all. Maybe Journey's release will prove me wrong. I would love that.

Grim...

Honestly though, I think that's half the reason we get double threads on games is because they aren't front paged. Obviously not ever game can be, but that's why there is two Nascar game threads.
