Default Home Theater Speaker Question

I currently have a Sony HT-6800DP system (w/o the DVD player). I want to get a new receiver and keep my Sony speakers. I want to get the Insignia™ - 450W 5.1-Ch. receiver (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Insignia...ater&cp=1&lp=2)

Will my Sony speakers and sub woofer work with this new receiver?

I am trying to understand the relation of the speaker power output to the receiver, if that makes sense. Thanks to anyone that helps.

Do the speakers have a normal wire? A red and black wire? Or do they have 1 wire with a connector? With a receiver u need to have a red and black wire for each speaker

Then it should work fine. I did the same thing with my old Onkyo HTIB system when I Purchased a new receiver and then proceded to replace the speakers as I could afford to.

get the specs for the receiver and speakers....make sure the impedence (ohms) on your speakers are equal or greater than the requirements for your receiver.
