As far as I know, the Canadian release is better. However, have patience. It will surely get a definitive release in the States next year to tie in with 4 in the spring.

You may want to watch for a US release, since the Alliance set is not without its flaws.

My thoughts as well... The Canadian set looked intriguing as an import... but knowing #4 is in the works, surely they will release them all at that time.

IF we don't get a set of them all when #4 comes out, then it won't happen for a long time.

If you want more information on the german release take a look at this thread. If you order through Austria it looks like you can get the uncut version of the German set, it'll be region B locked though. Theres also a few other European versions of the set floating around that aren't in the DB but they seem to have comparable quality to the Alliance set. If you can live with only having the first movie for now the Australian release is region free and of good quality.

Considering the price you can get the alliance set for, Its definately worth it.
Are they perfect? No but for 23 dollars and some change they are definately a good deal. Plus there are no guarentees that there will be a release on bluray of the original trilogy to tie in with scream 4.
And if there is you can always sell off the alliance set and not be out to much money(if any) in the event that there is a release of a box set here in the states.

Keep in mind that Scream 4 is being released through Dimenson via The Weinstein company, while the original trilogy is part of the Dimenson catalog that is still for the time being Distributed by Buena Vista but eventually will be controlled by the soon to be new owners of Miramax. And no one really knows for sure how they will distribute the Miramax/Dimenson Catalog on Bluray or DVD.

I went back and forth on buying this set until I found out its a completely bare bones release, the price tag of $28.99 at FutureShop should of set my spidey sense off. Looks like I am waiting for the re-release with all the extras ported over from the DVD box set to come out.

Have a feeling you will be in for a long long wait. Dont count on these being released in the us next year just cause scream 4 is comming to theatres, thanks to the fact that miramax/dimension catalog titles are in a sort of limbo right now.

I'm thinking we won't see another release of 1-3 until #4 hits Blu-ray, not theatres.

I picked up the box set for $25. I think it's worth it for all 3 movies. Watched the first two and they were good. It's not a big investment so I'd pick it up if you're a fan of the series.

I have the Kinowelt German release and also the Alliance Canadian release of the Scream Trilogy, but haven't had a chance to compare the two sets yet. My Canadian set is still shrinkwrapped actually. For the price though, I think the Alliance set is a good deal, especially not knowing when/if it will get a US release. --Rick

Haha, yeah the case is kinda stupid. Now Universal used this kind of packaging for their digipaks, so we'll need to get used to them.

The 2 clear plastic tabs that would be positioned at the bottom of the disc, need to be pushed down with the disc itself when re-inserting the discs into the case. Kinda hard to explain... But basically just push those tabs down and tuck the upper part of the disc under the 2... I dunno, "lips" that would be positioned at the top of the disc when in the case properly. Sorry if this only confuses you.

Thanks for the help, I think I got it now. I saw it was on sale from Canada's amazon.com and went a head and ordered it. I picked the "standard regular" shipping and it only took 2 days to get here in Stockton, California! Very fast!

Wow, good to know. I just bought some other discs from Amazon.ca...better check my p.o. box in the next few.

I was going to order the Scream box, but I, too, feel I'll at least wait until S4 hits blu in America. I'm not in a rush to watch'em and probably wouldn't have gotten to them until about that time any way. LOL

Pretty sure each disc is a BD-25, but not 100%. Most Alliance exclusive discs tend to be 25's.
