Led tv's are lcd tv's, all that's different is led backlighting is used, but the screens themselves are still lcd screens.

LCD and LED's are the same tv's the only difference it it that older model tv's use cathode (or however you spell it) tubes and the new sets use LED lights. Will they stop making LCD tv's? I am sure some where in the future they will be replaced just like everything else is these days.

I still shocks me at how many people don't know that LED are still LCD. I don't blame them though, I blame the marketing of the big stores.

Cold Cathode Fluorescent (CCFL) illuminated LCDs will be around for a bit yet. They now represent a lower price-point option in the overall LCD TV market (yes, keep in mind that "LED TVs" are basically the same as fluorescent-backlit LCDs, only that LEDs are used to provide the panel's backlighting). The term "LED TV" is more of marketing hype.

Since, at one point, CCFL LCDs were the only option, there were models which once represented the pinnacle of LCD technology, as witness the $2,200 I paid for the Sony 40" XBR4 back in 2007. It's still a fantastic TV, but its black levels and motion resolution can't hold a candle to my Panasonic VT20 plasma.

well most likely yes but probably not for a while. Lcd TV's are cheaper and therefore consumers will probably buy lcds over led tvs only because leds are more expensive for consumers to buy therefore as of right now I don't see consumers making a giant leap into buying led tvs.

Is the difference enough to warrant paying the extra cash then? I've heard they have better blacks is it a big difference to the old lighting method?

I'm not sure about the bending part but lcd screens do get pretty warm. When I had mine before I broke it, it acted like a heating lamp by heating my room. During the winter, who needs to turn on the central heating unit?

My advice is never put a tv next to a central heating unit it needs ventalation. Thats why i left a gap between the wall and my tv
