Russia Salyut-7 Салют-7 (2017) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free / No English audio or subtitles]

Salute 7 3D Blu-ray

No thread about Salyut 7, that's unfortunate. These 3D Russian sci-fi titles sound like must haves for OLED. Not looking forward to the subtitle situation, but it appears there are few choices besides makeshift solutions.

There's a Russian 3D Blu-ray you can find on ebay easily enough but all other releases are flat as far as I can tell.

Interesting. I will give it a shot.

This seems to be a converted 3D movie & in scope ratio.

Didn't know this Russian historical drama was out there. Did some research and gosh darn drat (pardon my language) -- no English subtitles! I'm tempted to buy it just to watch the visuals; looks like a "Apollo 13/Gravity" hybrid. Grumble again about no English subtitles. I will not advance conspiracy theories but adding multiple language subtitles would see more sales of this title.

I'd love to see Salyut 7 in IMAX 3D and/or Blu-ray 3D.

---

One review
I was able to find is largely positive.

---

Wikipedia article about the film.

Official website with trailers and behind-the-scenes briefs -- most play but some don't. It appears this was released in Russia in IMAX 3D.

And it appears to have favorable reviews on Amazon Prime, 2D with subtitles.

---

I found this description on an eBay item:

Space station "Salyut-7", in orbit in the unmanned mode, unexpectedly ceases to respond to signals from the flight control center. A decision was made to send a rescue expedition into orbit. The space crew must find the "dead" station and for the first time in the world to dock with a 20-ton block of unmanaged iron.

Astronauts understand that they have little chance of returning to Earth. But this risky path is the only possible one. They must not only penetrate the Salyut-7, but also revive it. Will two people prevent an imminent catastrophe and save the planet from the fall of the station? Rescue expedition turns into a dangerous test. A real cosmic detective is deployed in orbit. The film is based on real events: a flight to the Salyut-7 station in 1985 is considered the most difficult flight in the history of space exploration.

I have received my order from ebay today.

Does anybody else have this movie? I am aksing because this Russian blu-ray looks like a bootleg to me. The printing on the cover is slightly out of focus, and the disc seems to be a BD-R disc. The disc, however, works, and the movie is in 3D (although it does not say 3D anywhere on the cover - the cover looks like the cover of a 2D version to me).

Maybe this is all normal for a Russian version, but I would like to validate with somebody else.

Someone may have a different answer but it looks like a boot. The few Russian discs I own are all silver on the bottom as one would expect

You clearly have a bootleg copy. Here are some pictures from my russian retail edition I also got it from ebay. It came with a nice slipcover.

Not 3D and I haven't proofed them yet. I got the German UHD and got subtitles from somewhere and also tried a reverse translation of the subs on the UHD too. I got an oppo recently so will try out sometime hopefully this weekend to see if ok.

Subtitling is such a hard job when you can't just get them from another disc. I've never tried with 3d though. That said, Salyut 7 is 2.35:1 so doesn't matter as you can just use 2d in the black bars, couldn't you?

Sadly it seems that the guy with the English subtitles is inactive. I`m wanting to buy the Russian version with Auro-3D audio track, and since I don`t understand Russian, it would be great with subtitles.

I would, however, say, that in black bars any English subtitle should work, I know there`s a DVD version with english subtitles somewhere.

It is on Amazon Prime too with subtitles.

I've scraped subs from DVD before. Bit of a hard task!

I'll try my UHD today, see how it goes.

Here's a link to English subs: https://subtak.ir/subtitles/salyut-7-7/english/1688920

You'll have to mux them into an MKV rip of the 3D blu-ray, but they should work.

I mux, but I believe some players can stream subs live over the video. The Zidoo players and maybe any kodi device with add-ons will do it too. Not sure about others.

I used the subs from here and they worked great: https://subscene.com/subtitles/salyu...nglish/1688920 in MPC BE with madVR.

Looked spectacular on a C6. Great use of 3D. Even the ground command indoor shots made good use of depth.

I also just finished watching this today. The 3D is one of the best I have seen. Did not have one instance of crosstalk. And the story was amazing. It’s just a shame we have to go to such lengths to watch in in 3D with english subtitles.
If I had to point out one negative thing it would be that whenever they spoke other languages other then russian you have that voice over overlapped. Same thing put me off at the beginning of Stalingrad 3D. But it’s only a couple of news reports that last maybe 30 seconds all together trough out the movie. Wondered about getting the german blu-ray and remux it, but the russian audio is of much higher bitrate. And it comes with an Auro 3D track.

Gonna go watch The Spacewalker 3D now. Sampled it before and it was also amazing.

Hi Grazina,

It's a shame most of us are not savy enough to get the English subtitles put on. This one would love to have.
