What is my Grandson talking about? - Blu-ray Forum

Need help.

Our Grandson posted on Facebook that he hopes someone gives him the trilogy on Blu-Ray and that is all he said.

Now my question:
What they heck is he talking about? Any three movies stuck together (like Rambo, Bourne, LOTR, Back to the Future, etc.) is a trilogy, correct?

OR is there one that is called Trilogy?

Did he post anything just prior to that which may give some indication as to what films he was referring to?

Well Rambo is no longer a trilogy, but the others apply. Depending on his age, it could mean LOTR or Matrix or even one of the Star Wars sets. He probably doesn't mean Godfather.

Trilogy is a film collection consisting of 3 films like LOTR and Back to the Future like you said

There is only one franchise I would call "the trilogy" and that's SW. Just get the kid SW.

give him the original SW trilogy and tell him if that's not what he was originally wanting, tell him to bad and to learn to love them!!!

If he can afford it he should just get the kid both, even if the kid probably meant the OT. I'm one of those rare SW fans that grew up with the OT but actually prefer the prequels.

Among SW fans, there is only one THE Trilogy, just as they never associate the word with any other series.

(If, OTOH, he asked for "that one", you would also know. But he probably wouldn't.)

I originally bought THE Trilogy on Amazon, and wondered how/when I was also going to get around to getting That One.

Until I caught the "Phantom Menace 3-D" trailer at the Hugo screening, and now suspect we may be getting an additional double-dip some time late in '12 (if even for just the individual titles).
And given that I no longer buy 2-D versions of anything unless I have to...I will wait.

Fact: Kids who grew up with the Prequels prefer both and don't have nostalgia to interfere with the enjoyment of films like TPM, AOTC, and ROTJ.

I have this suspicion that he was talking about LOTR:EE but it couldn't hurt to ask.

If I were you, I wouldn't ask him.... Get him the complete Star Wars saga, the LOTR trilogy (whatever one is the cheap one.... theatrical I guess) Jurassic Park, and Back To The Future.

You know how good it feels to get a new Blu-ray at your door-step.... imagine how he'll feel to open a box and find all of that!

If your grandson is 2-7 years old, he means the Toy Story Trilogy.

If he is 7-14 years old, then he means the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.

If he is 14-20 years old, then he means the Jurassic Park or Bourne Trilogy.

If your grandson is 20-40 years old, he means the Star Wars "Original" Trilogy.
