Default Where are the great comedies on BD?????

I just finished watching "Yes Man",..... for the 10th time or so , and was wondering why there aren't more wonderful classic comedies out on BD?!?!?!?

I used to have so many comedies on DVD, but BD seems to be really slow when it comes to bringing classic comedies to Blu-ray in good quality releases!

Where is:

(Jim Carrey films)

Fun with Dick and Jane

Man on the Moon

Lemony Snicket's: A Series of unfortunate Events (Have been waiting for this one since the inception of BD!!!)

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
(so far only empty rumors! )

Dumb and Dumber (THEATRICAL CUT The Unrated one is an abomination!!)

Bruce Almighty (REMASTER- Universal- You weren't actually thinking I'd buy this travesty, did u? )

Monty Python's Meaning of Life

(Steve Martin films)

Housesitter

Bowfinger

The Out of Towners (Yes, I actually enjoyed it a lot! Steve and Goldie are hysterical)

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Father of the Bride (Although I haven't seen it in ages, and never did like it to begin with, but what the heck. )

Parenthood (Not really a comedy, but one hell of a great movie!)

Shopgirl (Hm, yeah, not a comedy at all, but a great film for sure!)

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid

Sgt. Bilko (It didn't do much for me at first, but it grew on me, and I ended up loving it! Truly hilarious!)

John Candy in "Who's Harry Crumb?"

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

Ben Stiller's Zoolander!!!!

All Charlie Chaplin films

Can't wait for Criterion's The Great Dictator!!!!

The Naked Gun movies

Hot Shots and all that nonsense would be fun too!

I don't want to watch something like The Dark Knight every other night, as I just want to jump out of the window afterwards.

How about some awesome comedies in razor sharp HD and lossless audio???

Who is in?

What do think the reasons are?

Are comedies really that unattractive on BD??

Even in on these forums I see comments like DVD is good enough for comedies, and I just don't get it. Do they have a 12inch TV, or are they simply blind? How come they are BD enthusiasts then?
This is all very baffling to me, so please enlighten me!

I strongly believe that ANY KIND of movie benefits extremely from the HD treatment, except if it was originally shot in SD, of course.

I think "Yes Man", "Life of Brian" and the like look great in HD.

Also, what are some of the comedies that you are eagerly awaiting to be released on BD?

I feel old if Yes Man is considered a classic comedy.

I'm still waiting for Gene Wilder/Harrison Ford's The Frisco Kid on blu-ray - now that would look good on blu!

If you mean GREAT comedies, I'm still waiting for The Court Jester.
Here's what it's like waiting for Paramount vintage catalog:

(Although Universal plans to reissue their Marx Brothers boxset as SD singles next summer, so you never know what they might be planning for 2nd-printing...)

Breaking it down by studio:

Universal -

Man on the Moon
Monty Python's Meaning of Life (ed. REAL fans know that Sony releases Holy Grail on any format, it's just been a matter of time)
(Steve Martin films)
Housesitter
Bowfinger
Parenthood (Not really a comedy, but one hell of a great movie!)
Sgt. Bilko (It didn't do much for me at first, but it grew on me, and I ended up loving it! Truly hilarious!)
Paramount -

Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
The Naked Gun movies
Sony -

Warner/New Line-

Dumb and Dumber (THEATRICAL CUT The Unrated one is an abomination!!)
Disney/Touchstone (or maybe just "Disney", as their BD studio apparently think Touchstone doesn't exist):
Quote:
Father of the Bride (Although I haven't seen it in ages, and never did like it to begin with, but what the heck. )
Shopgirl (Hm, yeah, not a comedy at all, but a great film for sure!)
(...Guess I don't need to explain the problem.)

I'm waiting for movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show(really all Christopher Guest films), Being John Malkovich and Adaptation (not strictly comedies)...

I already have some greats, like This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Life of Brian, Ghostbusters, Bottle Rocket, Army of Darkness, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Kick-Ass, Napolean Dynamite(yep, I said it)...I can't really complain too much.

Yes indeed, either the studio people or the BD collectors are a bunch of too serious people who lack the humor for comedies!

First of all, YES to Man on the Moon. That is by far the most underrated Jim Carrey movie.

I don't know... I have the HD-DVD and it looks pretty terrible. I'm not sure how much could be done to help this one out... it is the definition of low-budget sketch comedy.

Yes, his performance was beyond outstanding in it!
Pure genius!

I think they could remaster MOF to make it look decent, just as LOBrian looks good on BD.

Nobody has mentioned "the Jerk" with steve Martin. Absolutely the number one comedy and it is missing!

Regarding Steve MArtin in The Jerk. I saw it eons ago, and frankly don't remember it too well.
I thought it had been released on BD already, or was that HD DVD?

Man On The Moon is not a comedy, it is a drama film (To me) That being said, I am hoping it will come out on Blu-Ray, Jim's best film!

It's both, but it certainly is terribly hysterical!
