If they break up will this affect the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD War?

Parsons May Break Up Time Warner, After All
Two years after winning his battle with corporate raider Carl Icahn, who had called for the break-up of Time Warner into four separate companies -- cable, Internet, publishing and movies/TV -- Time Warner Chairman and CEO Richard Parsons said Tuesday that he may now be looking favorably on such a break-up himself. Speaking to a Goldman-Sachs investors' conference in New York, Parsons said that Icahn's argument "may have more resonance now, and we are evaluating that argument again. One reason we haven't jumped onto it is we're just now in a zone where we can take a serious look at it." Parsons also announced Tuesday that he was in the process of "passing the baton" to Time Warner president and COO Jeff Bewkes. Parsons' contract runs out on May 31.

The take away here is probably nothing will happen until after May 31. A break up and restructing would then have to pass thru SEC approval. This will take time. Hopefully war will have been decided by then.

Let's hope they are Blu exclusive by that time then.

Nope, just the stocks & any legal actions.

Nothing on the FCC web site about a split that I see:

If Warner DOES actually split up, they would likely have a lot less capital to work from. I really wouldn't think that this would be a good decision at all, but if they do I would think that because they would have less capital, they would have less decisions available to them, and therefore would probably be exclusive to one format or another.

If they split the cable & internet in too two seperat entities the FCC will be involved.
