YouTube offers it for sale as an HD video, so an HD master exists. Why in the world hasn't this come out on blu-ray?
Next to the still-missing 1937 Prisoner of Zenda, it's probably the b&w film that I most look forward to having on blu. |

WA wasn't releasing 30's movies for the most part until 2019 (with 42nd Street being the sole exception) and up until 2021 it was a small part of their overall lineup. WHV didn't end up release that many 30's movies on Blu-ray.
It's not really surprising that there are still a ton of major 30's movies left from Warner's catalog. George F. did hint a few months ago that Captain Blood was coming in 2023 which is really great news. |

For me, it is easily the one I most look first forward to having on Blu. And I’ll take it no matter how I can get it. While I think I’d prefer a Criterion release with bonus features, it seems more likely that WA would release it because of how much George Feltenstein values these properties, especially from Curtiz, Flynn and de Haviland.
