A real shocker of a film. I still have my Criterion DVD although the special featurtes never did much for me. Sadly. the Germany Blu-ray has even less.

Not sure what Blu-ray has to offer this very rough film but I'm interested in finding out.

Yeah, real shame he makes so few movies.

I rewatched this at the weekend (after seeing Keane again) and it's lost none of its power. I have never been interested in commentaries but I did listen to the first 20mins. Some interesting stuff but I'd rather of had an interview. The Criterion special features are poor otherwise. 'Sparse' comes to mind. That video essay is bloody awful.

Again, the Criterion DVD is very impressive compared to my old Fox Lorber DVD -in fact it's a bit of a shock seeing the film elements looking so good. I always thought it was really rough, evidently not.

For those looking for a -quite possibly- even more disturbing and challenging film about mental illness catch the Germany Blu-ray release of The Living and The Dead There's a UK DVD of that (and Keane) but hey, go German as it's metal too
