So i've got a Sony Bravia KDL402000, it's big at 40inches, and it's 1080p, so I feel that I am able to get the most out of Blu Ray, specially considering my bedroom is pretty small.
I use a PS3. When I first started getting into Blu Rays, I used the Av forums blu ray tier and was very strict on getting Blu Ray's that actually looked like reference quality. As you can imagine, things have changed a bit. I blind brought A Nightmare On Elm Street (classic version) just because i saw it on blu ray for dead cheap, and I was amazed at how wonderful a transfer it was. It's dreamy and surreal atmosphere is captured, and the horrible violence feels even more real at 1080p. It's great stuff, but I read some reviews that just said it was a competant disc. I'd like to use this thread as a means for members throwing out blu ray discs that are underrated in terms of visual and audio. For me, A Nightmare On Elm Street hands down needs more respect as it's a near perfect transfer as far as i'm concerned. Nice light grain with lots of detail gets my boat floating. I understand that The Faculty is considered an average Blu Ray, but i'e always liked the look of that film so will hunt it down. |
