Default Screen Shots - DVD v Blu Ray comparison

I like the screen grabs I’ve seen people post for UK v US Blu ray releases. To compare the PQ. It can be helpful, but for me mostly there isn’t much between them, as both HD.

What I would like is if anyone has a link to a site that shows screen grabs or shots whatever, for Blu ray against DVD.

I know Blu is better PQ than DVD and have ‘upgraded’ a good few titles. But for older/back catalogue it would be nice to compare and see if it is worth it.

For example, French Connection. Its old, filmed before HD. It has a decent DVD with a load of extras. You can buy the DVD for say £3 or the Blu for £10.
Without having to research the difference in what you get with extras etc, it would be useful to see a direct DVD v BR to see if worth spending 3 times the amount (if not already owned) or upgrading and spending £10 on something I already own.

Its just sometimes I read this or that has poor PQ or they didn't use the master so its like an upscale, etc.

I already have the French Connection 2 disc DVD and the BR release, this was just an example.

Thanks

There are plenty of videos on Youtube that show comparison between DVD and Blu-ray. They may not be full screen high resolution comparison shots, but I remember seeing one about Fight Club which quite convincingly showed that the Blu-ray included a lot more detail than the DVD, and that is just one example. I think it might have been on Zarenayak's channel (or whatever his YT name is).

35mm film has higher resolution than HDTV, so even old films benefit from blu-ray. In fact, standard definition usually can't handle the grain structure of old film, so the upgrade can be quite substantial.

Thanks. Not really spent much time looking at the tech side of movies, just enjoy watching and collecting.

Really appreciate this info. This is why I was hoping for a site or something that would compare. I have over a thousand DVDs I haven't bothered to add to my collection list. I would look at upgrading to Blu on any if it was really worth it.

I have found some DVDs still have better extras than the Blu release of the same titles, so will keep them anyway. Even recent titles like Football Factory have the music video on DVD but not on Blu ???

But the PQ is the main reason I would upgrade. And many times I have read PQ is poor or not worth the cost to change.

I have a decent home system and both my Blu Ray player and PS3 upscale.
