Yay! Love this movie! Echo Bridge has the rights in the States and I was worried of a horrible transfer or not even a release at all. Looks like I'll be importing this one.

Wow...am surprised to see this getting a BD release. Don't get me wrong - I like the film as I have the dvd and will no doubt upgrade to the Blu when released - it's just not a film I was expecting to see get the HD treatment, especially when new films like "Midnight in Paris" don't even get a BD release!

What's the source of your 411 regarding Echo Bridge being the U.S. rights holder please?

I know of at least one Miramax title that was initially released by 'max, discontinued and then re-released by Echo Bridge (The Lookout). Is there precedent for Echo releasing in the U.S. a title that Studio Canal released in the UK?

Can someone in the UK help me out on this title?
I would like to know for sure if this edition has any subtitles at all!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Let us know what the PQ is like whenever you fire up the disc. I have the dvd so am wondering whether an upgrade is worth it or not.

I'd be interested in the PQ and if its the same transfer, etc. as the US disc.

Dirty Pretty Things is a film I'm also very interested in. I consider it one of Stephen Frear's best films and one of the best of its year. It features a terrific performance by Audrey Tautou, but an especially memorable leading role performance from Chiwetel Ejiofor, this being the first I saw of many remarkable performances by this fine actor. I already have the old DVD and would love to upgrade it to blu if the picture & sound quality and supplements make it worth my money.

Martin Liebman's review of Echo Bridge's US release was rather critical of the picture quality and somewhat so on the sound.

Those who have watched the blu-ray issued by Studio Canal in the UK: please tell us what the technical quality is like and what supplements are included. Thanks.

Some notes:

This disc is REGION B LOCKED.

Despite the run time error on the case, the feature is 1080p23.976, and does run for 97 minutes.

The disc has only English audio and only English SDH subtitles.

Again in spite of the cover listing no extras, there is a director's commentary in the Set Up tab of the menu, and a trailer in 4:3 PAL. The BTS featurette from the Echo Bridge disc is not present.

Cheers Ordered this along with Sling blade (which would have been around £19 on it's own! )

+1. I would like to know this too.

I assume PQ is good at minimum since it's Studio Canal. If not top notch. I don't like to rely on assumptions, though ;-)
