The Year of Living Dangerously is in the Warner Archive Collection. To me, that is good news because it means it likely will get an upgrade. Given the star power of its cast and a well known director, I would hope WAC are planning to release it soon. Great film, one of my top 5 most wanted on Blu-ray.

At the time a lot of people complained about the incongruity of having a French character in the CIA, but a lot of French who worked with the Americans in Vietnam after the French were driven out ended up working for the CIA in South America.

Under Fire Blu-ray Review

Very underrated. Oscar nom for Goldsmith and Hackman Golden Globe nom notwithstanding. One of Nolte's best performances and the best film Roger Spottiswoode ever directed. Would make for a great triple feature with "Salvador" and "Missing."

Before the Lionsgate we know today, there was a production company called Lion's Gate that was founded by Robert Altman (named after the bridge in Vancouver). Altman sold the company in the late 1970's and said company became a post-production facility some time after (Under Fire was produced before this move). In the 1990's, a Canadian distribution label called Cinepix (which was co-owned by the Famous Players chain) bought the facility as part of an attempt to break into US distribution. To avoid an antitrust suit, the US was spun off and renamed Lions Gate Films in 1998 and the rest is history.

As part of the history, Lionsgate still has their Vancouver headquarters to this day.

I just finished the BLU and watched Joanna Cassidy's interview. I was kind of expecting more info from her than what was given. She generally gives great behind the scenes stories but was just surprised we didn't get more behind the scenes, more background on her casting and so forth. It was still nice hearing what little was offered she really has been cast in so many good films.

Does somebody know why the Drew artwork for the Vinyl record release featured Nicaragua's distinct geographical shape (and name!) behind Gene Hackman's head and why this was altered (or the other way round) for the film's poster shown earlier in this thread?
