USA Severance Season One Blu-ray (2022)

The first season of the Apple TV+ original series Severance (2022) on Blu-ray on December 17th. It looks like it's being released directly by its production company, Fifth Season. The series has been renewed, with S2 scheduled for January.

Quote:
Mark leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives; when a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, it begins a journey to discover the truth about their jobs.

Wish this was in 4k, but I'm happy. Thanks for the update!

This is the surprise release of the year. Never expected this.
Especially after Apple made sure that The Morning Show got cancelled on Blu-ray.
Definitely buying this.

Apple doesn't produce this or The Morning Show, so they can't really stop it. They could probably have it delayed so Apple is the only way to watch it for a while. Since this doesn't have a production studio behind it like For All Mankind, it seems like this was just licensed out to AMC, so I'm sure The Morning Show could also be licensed out as well.

Here's hoping AMC also releases Silo at some point, since they actually produce that... and Sony releases Slow Horses, Universal releases Loot, and WB releases Shrinking. And Paramount can release Foundation since it's produced by Skydance.

The Blu-ray cover art was just released on Amazon, and it looks more like a Mill Creek style release. I don't even see RLJE Entertainment credited on the back.

Looks like Amazon changed the studio to Fifth Season, which lines up with the back cover. That's actually the company that produced the series, so that's an interesting development.

i'd love nothing more than for this to happen. someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought I read somewhere that someone asked David S. Goyer if the show would get a physical release, and he said there's a strong possibility that it would? can't find the source anywhere, but i'm excited by the prospect.

i noticed that too. wondering what involvement RLJE has with it, if any, and why they were included if not.

I think that may have just been a mistake on Amazon's part. It does still show RLJ internally, but the UPC, 843501043288, does not line up with the ones that RLJ uses

Why no 4K though...appeasement to Apple having it in UHD resolution exclusively?

The only studios that have released 4K has been WB and a couple from Paramount, and the franchise shows on Disney+... and the two Stranger Things season Netflix threw to us like scraps. Not having a 4K isn't a surprise.

Studio being changed makes sense, if somebody had licensed this I don't think it'd have been an AMC studio.

Here's hoping 4K eventually comes out. How it's only Blu-ray right now is beyond me.

Just like For All Mankind, I'm so conflicted here. Great show, and I absolutely want to support it on physical media. But if a 4K release is being planned, that's absolutely the version I'd prefer to buy.

Buy it and get burned later on the double dip? Or skip it to hold out for 4K, thereby contributing to lackluster sales numbers, potentially killing said 4K release.

This sh!t doesn't have to be so frustrating. Sigh.

I'm wrong a lot, so who knows. But I would highly doubt that a 4K is planned.

For something like this it always feels like a miracle we're getting anything at all so I'm inclined to go for the guaranteed thing that's already announced, which will hopefully show them that there's interest in continuing to release the series on blu + maybe other streaming shows, rather than just wait for something that may never happen

Unless they haven't listed them on the back, there doesn't appear to be any.
