United Kingdom Choose 2 films you love

Choose 2 of these films and please tell me also why'd you choose it.

I've never seen any of these before and the fact that Mulholland Drive has no english subtitles worries me. I'd like to know if it's still reasonably easy to follow?

You can, of course, recommend something else. UK titles only. I have about £30 on my Zavvi account and I'd like to spend it all now.

edit. Pierrot le fou is naturally a Studio Canal release, not BFI.

The fact that you have never seen Deer Hunter would be reason enough to run over you in a sinclair C5...so thats the reason I have chosen that.

Breathless because its Jean Luc Godard and it is such a classic 60's movie.

They are both collectible studio canal collection digibooks which will go out of print.

Thats 3 reasons

I wrote my Masters Thesis on Une Femme Mariee, and love it dearly. Pierrot Le Fou is one of the films that regularly fights it out for the top spot on my favourite films list.

Thank you very much guys. I have a feeling this is going to be a tough choice once again.

I forgot to add Mulholland Drive to that poll(why do I always forget to do something?).

edit. Decided to go with Une Femme Mariée. One more to go!

I'm actually a bit surprised that the Deer Hunter is getting most of the votes. :O

It is a great film.

I voted for:

The Deer Hunter
Carlos the Jackal

There really isn't a bad choice on your list though.

Also, keep in mind, Criterion will be releasing a version of Carlos, I believe on September 27th if I recall correctly.

Another vote for The Deer Hunter here mainly because it's the only one I've seen.

Deer Hunter - not only one of the best of it's genre, it's worth the watch for the roulette scene alone.

Cercle Rouge - Melville's best film, and again it's 20+min heist scene is one of the most gripping in film history.

I haven't seen Pigs And Battleships yet but it looks really interesting.

Sorry to hijack your thread Kruger, just wondered what version of Deer Hunter eveyone has gone for if they own it as I see there are 2 but also sure I read something about an audio problem or something?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'd say the digibook version as the other is just a barebones release.

I purchased Une Femme Mariée and Playtime.

Still have like £14.95 on my Zavvi account so might purchase one more tonight..

Whilst I appreciate your freedom of choice...I am little confused by the point of the thread as you ended up not going for the ones that people voted most for

I understand your point. But like I said I'm going to purchase one more, which will be one of those that people voted most for. One thing that made me choose these two was the price. Une Femme Mariée was a one time deal by Eureka and Playtime was on sale.

I don't remember ever seeing any of the films listed, but the two I most love is Pinocchio and Unforgiven.

The title is misleading, you're wanting people's feedback on which film to choose from, not their opinion on which they actually love (personally).

I don't really see it that way.

If anyone's interested(probably not), here are the films I bought:
