Warner will be releasing the Captain Planet: The Complete Franchise Collection on Blu-ray on Earth Day, April 22nd! This includes the original Captain Planet and the Planeteers series (1990-1992), as well as The New Adventures of Captain Planet (1993-1996). The set was released on DVD last year, so it's great news that it's finally coming out on BD as well. It will be MOD-distributed, but will have pressed discs.

Man, the theme song for this and Denver the Last Dinosaur are burned into my memory. And I only saw a handful of episodes of each! 80s/early 90s buttrock songs were the best.

Totally unexpected, but glad it's happening. Wish more and more backlog like this got Blu ray releases. And I sure wish major studios welcomed SD on BD too. Would save lot of space and compress better.

The theme song was really great with this one. I sing it from time to time to my family, who don't seem to have the same appreciation for it as I do

I remember having the Captain planet action figure, I believe it the chest portion used to light up. I recall there was a video game on the Super NES at one point maybe memory is still foggy. But this is awesome news overall. I'll definitely pick this up

Definitely not SD. From reading the DVD thread last year, the show was remastered/restored when it was shown on MeTV.

It saddens me that this got a blu ray release before Animaniacs, Freakazoid!, He-Man(80's or 2002), Pirates of Dark Water, Powerpuff Girls, SWAT Kats, Tiny Toon Adventures, TMNT(2012), etc.

Always glad in principle to see more animated series get remastered and released on BD. But yeah, this one doesn't do anything for me personally; never cared for Captain Planet. However, the very fact Warner is still willing to do sets like this is a positive sign for people hoping for other shows.
