Default New to home theater systems. Please help
Hi guys,

I think I've finally strayed away from the HTIB route. I came across the Onkyo TX-NR509 and love what it features for the price - DLNA, the USB integration and networking. So I think I will be picking up this receiver and adding a speaker set. I can get the receiver for $299.99 from either Amazon or Vanns.

Now I am looking for a decent speaker package with a sub. Does anyone have any good suggestions for speaker packages with sub for around $300-$350?

Also, what else will I need to complete my setup once I have my receiver and speakers? I know I'll need speaker wire and banana plugs. Can someone suggest a good wire and decent plugs? And can anyone recommend a good cheap surge protector? Is there anything that I am missing that I should need?
