Default Evilspeak (1981) & Final Exam (1981) Scream Factory - 2014

**BREAKING: TWO TITLE ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 2014!**

Fans of early 80s school-themed horror films are in luck with this news. 1981's college campus slasher film FINAL EXAM and 1982's satanic revenge epic EVILSPEAK (starring Clint Howard) will both be making their debuts on Blu-ray both for the first time this Summer!

These titles have been with Code Red - another long-time cult film home entertainment company - for some time and we are pleased that we were able to make a deal with them for these two guilty pleasures.

Expect the same extras that were on the prior Code Red DVD releases to be imported over. More details on street date and if any more extras are planned will be revealed in the new year.

Very surprised, Final Exam for me. Too bad The Mutilator has no chance of ever seeing a proper release.

Great to see them make a deal with Code Red, as it's probably the only way most CR titles will ever see the light of BD day. Evilspeak is enjoyably insane, but Final Exam is one of the most sleep-inducing slashers ever made, and that's saying something.

I'll get around to buying both of these eventually. Final Exam is definitely a third rate slasher film but as someone who loves the genre I'll get it no doubt.

I recently purchased both of these Code Red dvd releases (of course I did, since they are now getting the blu ray treatment!).

I am a horror movie fanatic and collector, and the only reason I will purchase the Final Exam blu ray is to have it in my horror collection, but it is truly an awful film in every way possible - "acting" (and I use the term very loosely); bare bones plot and terrible dialogue; pacing (a snoozefest for the first hour or so until something actually starts happening, and by then I no longer cared - I just wanted everyone dead so I could finally turn it off); and even worse - zero suspense or atmosphere of any kind. I like Evilspeak more, but I am glad both are being released because it gives hope that more of these films from the Golden Age of1980's horror will make it onto the blu ray format.

You'll probably still need to hang on to the Scorpion one if you want the commentary, which I think was unique to that release

Great news on both. I actually found the paperback novelization to Final Exam not too long ago and need to give it a read.

Sweet! Haven't seen either of these but glad Shout picked em up for a Blu-ray release. I've only heard of them. Haven't heard great things about Final Exam but apparently it has some fans so I'll have to check it out. I love 80s slashers!

Seriously folks, heed omenboy's words. Final Exam truly scrapes the bottom of the slasher barrel: virtually no gore, no excitement--just endless badly written dialogue. This one's a sleeping pill on celluloid, for sure.

Surprised they didn't go for Savage Streets. I thought Code Red had the blu-ray rights for that one (which is why Scorpion never released it).

As for Evilspeak, kind of pissed I already bought the Code Red DVD. That'll teach me...

This will be my third time buying Final Exam. Already bought the BCI and Scorpion DVDs. The Scorpion DVD is a HUGE improvement and looks stunning, even for a DVD. I also thought it was kind of boring the first time I saw it, but loved it the second time, and I like it more with each viewing. Love the adorable Sherry Willis-Burch, also from Killer Party. Fun little slasher film, but by no means near the top tier of the 80s slasher fare.

I was not expecting this at all! What a surprise!

I'd be even more surprised if Scream and Code Red released The Dead Pit on Blu too.

It would be great if they'd start releasing genre titles that have NOT yet been available on the DVD/Blu-Ray formats. I'm waiting for titles like Blood Beach, Without Warning '80, A Cold Night's Death, Fade To Black. How about a 3-D version of Parasite?

For what it's worth, Blood Beach (Germany last year) and Fade to Black have received DVD releases. I half-jokingly asked 88 Films about the possibility of a 3-D disc of Parasite, but didn't get a response.

FINAL EXAM is soooo boring and hardly worth buying again for a little more resolution. EVILSPEAK is interesting though.
