have a ps3 and have 75 blu rays, only once have i come across a problem, which was with saving private ryan, used the disc replacement program, and swiftly got a perfect replacement.
bought gangs of new york as i love the film, throughout watching the whole film, there was not just one, but about 7 or 8 instances where the audio was badly out of sync, i switched everything off, restarted and went back to the scenes i was noticing it at, and it was still present. i took it back to the shop, and had a replacement, exactly the same happened. so my question is.... this is in no way acceptable to me, what can i do? i understand there is a remaster, but its in america only, and yes i know its region free, but surely to get a working film i shouldnt have to buy it twice? is there any chance that i could email them and get it swapped for the remastered region free version? im just not quite sure who to write to, as i know in uk the distributor was different than in usa. does anyone else have this problem with the uk blu ray? |

Have you got access to any other blu-ray players, at a friends house or something? To confirm its not just the PS3, or your sound system causing the issue.
All I can suggest is to take notes of times when the audio goes out of sync, then contact them. |

I think it's very unlikely you'll be able to get a free replacement with the US/region-free version - as you say it's different distributors so it's unlikely the UK one even holds stock of the US version. Have you checked the forums to see if this problem is the same on all UK copies? Otherwise all you can do is take it back to the shop, explain the problem and say you'd like a refund. I have the new US remastered verison and it has great PQ and no sound problems and highly recommend it. I know...you shouldn't have to buy the same product twice, but you may just have to bite the bullet on this one. Also you can get the US one quite cheap now.
I have only had lip sync problems on 2 BD's - Saving Private Ryan, which was well reported and like many others got my disc exchanged. Also it does it for a short while during A History of Violence. It only lasts for about 5-10 mins and is only slightly out of sync, so have just put up with it. Also I don't know if it's on all UK copies? |

thanks for the help and advice guys,
im sure its not my sound system as such, as i dont really have one, lol. sound is just coming from my plasma, and all my other 70 odd blu rays have always had no lip sync, and this is my second copy of gangs of new york, when i googled it, there were a few people mentioning it. i'll contact them, and see what they say, if not i'll have to bite the bullet and order the us one! thanx again! |
