Default Harmony remotes need to be more durable

I bought a Harmony One about a week ago I just dropped it ( I now I should not be dropping remotes, but it happens) I dropped my other remotes quite a bit and they never had something loose inside the remote, my friends parents also have one and they dropped it and something is rattling around inside it also. Harmony should put more padding on there remotes or make them more durable because remotes do get dropped.

Luckily my remote still works .

I do not have one of the newer models but from the build quality of my 880, I agree. Harmony remotes sure do feel like crap considering how much they cost. Within a year and a half my Volume Up button on my replacement remote started to act up. I say "replacement remote" because my first one's Volume Up worked like it does now fresh out of the box so I got it exchanged.

I have to press it just right for it to change the volume up. Volume Down is perfect. They both get equal usage. I mean, if I raise the volume now, at some point it has to go down, right?

This won't stop my from getting another Harmony but damn, my 880 sure is an expensive piece of sh-- (build-wise.) Functionally, I love it.

I've had a Harmony One since 2008 and it's probably fallen 50 times onto my hardwood floor and it still works as good as new. Usually after it falls the software will automatically reboot and I'll have to hook it up to the computer to get the time and day right but I don't have a problem with that.

My 900 is sturdy so no qualms there.

My 555, which I've had the longest, creaks a bit now lol.

But my 1000 which I've had for a few years has major problems with the volume button. It keeps sticking, which has almost damaged my speakers countless times. I should get rid of it really.

Are you sure the rattle isn't the light sensor?

I've got three harmonies, and they all get treated just like plain old remotes... meaning sometimes they get tossed across the room to another user, sometimes they get thrown out of bed and into a wall when the covers are fluffed, and sometimes they just fall and hit the floor. So far so good. No issues with any of them.

It is the 'Light Sensor' inside your Harmony One that is loose (rattling inside); this is perfectly normal.
Don't sweat it!

- The proof is that your remote is still working.

Practically the only thing hate about my Pioneer VSX-91TXH is if you hit mute and then go volume down it takes you off mute if you go down the mute should stay on if you go up I have no problem with the mute being disabled.
