Default So now that I got my HD650s, what next?

So right now my HD650s are hooked up to my onkyo 806 reciever and i either listen to music in the form of cds or SACDs from my BDP-S580 blu-ray player or from my computer (ill tackle the computer in a seperate thread) but will i get a noticeable improvement in SQ getting an amp of the sorts for these or is my reciever good enough?

Reciever aside, on the off chance i did want to use it with my ipod or whatever, what would be a good portable amp? (nothing too crazy price wise since it would be rare that i use them this way)

The FiiO E11 is a great portable amp.

As a 300ohms headphone, an amp will def help drive them well, you can def go with a dedicated phone amp, but a vintage receiver might be as good. My AKG K340 sounded ok with normal amplification, but since I've been using my vintage H/K to drive them it's night and day better (the H/K headphone out is directly connected to the main speakers outs), they now sound perfect. Same, to a lesser degree with my FA FA-011s. Maybe a nice DAC/Amp combo if you use them a lot.

Not sure where that topic is but I'm using an Emu 0202USB to drive my 650 and it sounds great. This unit has a great headphone amp for the money and it can even drive my 80's Sennheiser HD414 (600 Ohms) with ease.
