For her first post-Harry Potter writing project, author J K Rowling raised eyebrows with the acclaimed political-leaning novel The Casual Vacancy. The acclaimed book was then picked up by the BBC for a television adaptation at the end of 2012, although we hadn't heard anything since.
Now, however, it's been revealed that HBO has got involved in the project. In partnership with the BBC, HBO will now turn The Casual Vacancy into a three hour mini-series, which Rowling herself is going to executive produce. The plan is to shoot the miniseries this coming summer.
Sarah Phelps is writing the script for the series, and it's going to be shot in England. Jonny Campbell is set to direct.

Sadly really haven't heard anything good from the novel from friends and family who have read it, but maybe the two companies can pull something good out from the material.
