Ever to be on Blu Ray? Capra, Marx Bros, WC Fields, etc

Hello, just stumbled across this forum while looking to see if It's A Wonderful Life has been released to Blu Ray. Someone said it was scheduled, any idea when?

How about any other Carpa films?

Marx Bros?
WC Fields?
Laurel and Hardy?

Well it's 2013 and still no word on any WC Fields Blu-ray releases. I have the 2 Universal DVD box sets and doubt if the prints would benefit from any further restoration. We WC Fields fans are lucky we got the box sets I suppose.

The first two are Universal--that should be enough of an answer right there --and the third....no one knows, exactly.

I see a lot of these type requests around here. I'm just curious, do fans of such old Material feel that the footage would actually benefit from the BR format, or do they feel that DVDs are polluting their media collections at this point? Or do you want the convenience of the space available on a BD?

Not really, unless we're talking about complete restorations from the original film I can't really see where this footage would look or sound any better on a BD rather than a DVD. At least not to the point where it would take anything away from the content.

They all deserve to hit blu-ray. I think Criterion will release a few Capra's. The word on W.C. Fields and the Marx Brothers is the existing materials are in rough shape.
