Default Ipod charging/sync usb cable

well, my freaking cat decided to chew through my Ipod Nano's charge/sync cable this morning in 3 places ...not happy to say the least. question is.... are the apple cables themselves really worth $30 for a stinking cable??? or can I get one of these

http://www.amazon.com/White-Cable-iP.../dp/B002CCUWKM

anyone know of a good place that would be the monoprice of ipod charging/sync cables???

I've got the cable you linked to and it works perfectly with my Ipod Touch (2nd generation) and Ipod Nano (6th generation). I've only had it a couple months but I've never had any issues with it.

The cheapie cables are just fine. You're just paying for the branded name on the Apple ones.

Same across all gens. Goto the mall and get a $5 cable from a kiosk or cheaper if you don't mind waiting for shipping online.

ooooooo, didn't think of that. I have a mall with those kiosks all over the place. thanks for the info guys, I thought $29.99 for a 2 foot usb cable with an adapter on the end was a bit ridiculous

You definitely thought right. At the rate they're charging for the one on Amazon, you could get several of them before you paid the retail Apple price for just one. Even if it only works for a little while, it would probably still be worth it to just buy the same cheap one again. I don't always think that way when I'm shopping and comparing name brand name to third-party, but in this case I would say that thought process applies.

There are some items for use with Apple/Mac where third-party isn't acceptable, but I really don't think this is one of them.
