Hi, I have a PS3 and an old pioneer XV-HTD5 receiver with S-HTD5 speaker sistem. It only haves digital coaxial out. So I want to get a Denon AVR, I've been looking at 1611/1712 and maybe 891 models. so I can have loossless audio from Blu-ray.
what I want to know is if I can buy one of these receivers and use my old spakers? the speakers specs acording to the manual are: Fronts: 8 ohms, 115watts, 50-20,000Hz Surround: 6 ohm, 52 watts, 150-20,000Hz Center: 6 ohm, 52 watts, 70-20,000Hz subwoofer: 8 ohm, 115 watts, 30-2,000Hz I'm not expecting a great sound but as I live outside the US I can only import this equipment and as it gets really expensive I can't afford buying new speakers at the same time. also, the subwoofer is not self powered so I don't know if there is a way to hook it up or If would have to buy or make one. I'm not sure if this should be here or on the speaker sub-forum. thanks in advance. |
