Default Panasonic GT30 vs VT30

I'm comparing the GT30 to the VT30. The only thing I can find that the VT30 has over the GT30 is the ISF mode, that it comes with one pair of 3D glasses and that it uses one piece glass. Can that really justify the roughly $1300 price difference (unless there's more than I'm missing)?

Some ad copy found on the Internet about the differences:

One rung down from the VT30, the Panasonic GT30 series of plasma 3D displays features a slimmer bezel, THX certification and full HD 3D capabilities, but only Infinite Black Pro panel and no RS232 port for ISF interfacing.

Here is a thread discussing the differences:

I can't speak to the newer models but I do know the differences were enough between the VT25 and GT25 for me to get the VT25. And I am still blown away to this day with my TV and have never been more satisfied with an electronics purchase (aside from my PS3, of course).

It turns into a ST30 vs the GT30 thread.

That's because the st and gt are almost the same tv. The st is the g series from last year with a 2-3d converter, the gt has the new 3d algorithm and upgraded processor.

The vt upgraded the processor and has a new gas formula and also got the new 3d algorithm.

To you and I what does that mean....go to the store and watch it to see which you prefer. There is no doubt that the VT will always be the flagship and have all improvements, the G is a slimmed down version so it will always seem similar but will always lack the fullness of the vt.

All I know is when I do buy my plasma, It'll be either the Panasonic 55" VT30 and the Samsung 59" D80000.

Stay away from the Samsung ANY plasma.

The image retention is unreal. I have a PN50C7000. If I put my satellite menu on to pick a show I get residual image after 1 minute.

I watched braveheart a week ago on History HD, I had a "H" in the bottom corner for a day!!

The wash out feature works great, but i have to use it every 45min, and I only have it in standard, not dynamic. Samsung said it's not covered under warranty because "burn" is not covered.

I have it set to ISF settings....as the supervisor of home theater at Bestbuy you'd think I could get them to do something, but nothing!!!

Yeah, I saw the cnet review of it and they said the D8000 can't hadle 24p without sacrificing black level performance. I wouldn't mess around with the ISF settings if you're not sure what you're doing.

If you can afford it,I would recommend the 55" VT30.Have it myself, and it is gorgous. One thing to consider:If you sit 6-foot away,or closer, then even 55" may be abit too big.I have it around 6 foot away, and in some scenes I can see that pixel-grip.Not a big distraction, but worth thinking about.

Does the VT30's USB input(s) read NTFS formatted USB flash drives/HDD w/mkv playback?

Dude, just call Panasonic. No need to post this in multiple threads.

Why do that if I get answers here. I am pretty sure I am not the only "dude" with the question.

You're using more energy flooding threads with this question than it would picking up the phone and calling them.

That is what threads are for Wingman isn't. Besides, they were lacking responses. I was doing someone else a favor. How odd is that?

They are not for you to be flooding them. Anyway, I'm not going to continue this for it's going off topic. Stop being lazy and call Panasonic (you're a NY'er you should be smarter than this).

Real New Yorker's help other New Yorker's unless you weren't here then you're just illegitimate and will never be one. But I agree people should answer questions on threads. If every time we had a question we called the company there would be no need for forum sites.

You two ought to get marriedBut seriously,I would just format it in FAT32 because it's more likely to work. Can't hurt to try,and it'll only take a few minutes of your time webmaster1990
