Many of you may already know about this exhibit - thanks to fifthblade for bringing it to my attention - but I went recently & thought I would share a few pics.
Between now and June 30, 2013, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is hosting a Stanley Kubrick exhibit. On display are props, promotional materials and preparatory documents from several of Kubrick's films. The exhibit is being held in conjunction with screenings at the on-site Bing Theater (I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey). Info available at http://www.lacma.org. International movie posters: [Show spoiler] This is a model of the Dr. Strangelove "war room"... scale is deceiving in this pic, it's only a couple feet across: [Show spoiler] Me and HAL: [Show spoiler] The 2001 display (room 1 of 2)... The discovery is a replica (original was discarded after shooting); I don't know if this is the one used for 2010 or just a recreation, it didn't specify. Also the chairs from the space station: [Show spoiler] Costumes from Barry Lyndon: [Show spoiler] Enjoy! Last edited by thebard; 12-02-2012 at 11:01 PM. |

These really just scratch the surface. There are scores of scripts, notebooks, shooting schedules and more.
From the Clockwork Orange milk bar: [Show spoiler] Items from The Shining included the typewriter and the ax. Even just the dresses gave me the creeps: [Show spoiler] Shooting schedule... I think this one was from The Aryan Papers: [Show spoiler] Stanley Kubrick's chess set: [Show spoiler]
