Default Kubrick at LACMA

Many of you may already know about this exhibit - thanks to fifthblade for bringing it to my attention - but I went recently & thought I would share a few pics.

Between now and June 30, 2013, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is hosting a Stanley Kubrick exhibit. On display are props, promotional materials and preparatory documents from several of Kubrick's films.

The exhibit is being held in conjunction with screenings at the on-site Bing Theater (I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey). Info available at http://www.lacma.org.

International movie posters:

This is a model of the Dr. Strangelove "war room"... scale is deceiving in this pic, it's only a couple feet across:

The 2001 display (room 1 of 2)... The discovery is a replica (original was discarded after shooting); I don't know if this is the one used for 2010 or just a recreation, it didn't specify. Also the chairs from the space station:

Costumes from Barry Lyndon:

Enjoy!

These really just scratch the surface. There are scores of scripts, notebooks, shooting schedules and more.

From the Clockwork Orange milk bar:

Items from The Shining included the typewriter and the ax. Even just the dresses gave me the creeps:

Shooting schedule... I think this one was from The Aryan Papers:

I've seen the banners on light poles all over, and really want to go. Hope I can make it, but it's nearing the end of the semester. Thanks for the great pics.

You're allowed to take pics inside?

I'll see if I could go. Missed the Burton exhibit last year.

Yes, there were cell phones out left & right! They don't mind, as long as you don't touch anything.
