Why do all your threads sound like market research survey questions?

do you care if a blu ray drops from 15$ to 12 $
would you rather spend a summer day at the beach or watching a new bd
who does blu ray the best, paramount ,disney , wb ,sony
what upcoming box set are you the most excited for

My post wasn't meant to be taken too seriously, merely an (attempted) humorous observation. I'm sure you're not actually from a marketing firm getting free data from us forum goers

The threads seem to create good discussions so sure continue as long as the mods don't mind. I would say that maybe you should space out your threads a bit since all the ones I listed were posted within the past 24 hours or so

Now as to answer your question, I think I like Warner releases more than other studios. They've done a great job with many of their major catalog titles (Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Ben Hur, Wizard of Oz, etc..) and I like that they put out various collector's editions and Digibooks for them too.

Disney is incredible ... check out Step Up 3 (non-3D version) for an incredible experience with both video AND sound.

Actually, Echo bridge has put out some good disks. But, I think Mill Creek is one of the better prodcuers of Blu-ray titles.

But, I have to say, WOW, such hate and negativity ... and I thought I was bad.

Sony and Paramount seem to be the best for consistent quality, but they practically abandoned the format for catalogue releases.

Warner had a very sketchy start with quality (leaders in lossy audio), but right now they are solid in terms of quality and they keep digging into their catalogue.

Disney and Universal are somewhere in between. Actually they are both doing pretty good at digging into their catalogues as well. For awhile Disney seemed to be going away from catalogue titles, but they have a pretty good number of them this year. And at least Universal is doing SOMETHING for their 100th, even though it would have been alot better. Paramount has basically done nothing at all except re-issue a few titles with special slipcovers.

Of the big studios, they all do pretty fantastic jobs with their new releases.

Warner probably is best with their catalog. Disney is great with their animated catalog but doesn't give a piss for their live action films. Sony is great when they put forth the effort, but seem to like handing off their catalog to small distributors to release instead. Fox/MGM is pretty solid with their back catalog. Criterion is always top notch. Lionsgate does passable work with the catalog titles they've acquired. Universal is pretty good about releasing their titles, but they all typically suffer from laziness and reusing older masters. Paramount is kinda in the same camp as Sony. Pretty solid stuff when they make the effort, but it's pretty rare with them.

That being said, most titles from the early days of BD aren't too great.
