Default The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Announced

Where there's a Spidey movie, there's a Spidey video game. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game will arrive in 2014 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and 3DS.

Developed by Beenox, the folks behind The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and Spider-Man: The Edge of Time, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will put players back in a free-roaming New York as the webhead with new combat moves and upgrades. The story itself revolves around Spidey hunting Uncle Ben's killer; it's set in the movie universe but existing in its own continuity.

The sequel will also introduce a new heroism system called "Hero or Menace" in which you're rewarded for stopping crime, but punished if you don't keep it up. More interesting, the narrative will actually have Peter Parker bits for players to experience.

Activision didn't reveal a release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the company did say it was planned to launch alongside the film, which is set for May 2, 2014.

One game I kept & still like is Spider-Man 3 for PS3.

It was one of the first few titles I picked up for PS3. Bruce Campbell does some narration. Anyway, I liked the "Toby Maguire" Spider-Man films & think this will be a great game.. maybe better movie.

Really enjoyed The Amazing Spider-Man, looking forward to number 2!

Glad to see they're keeping the free roam, hopefully they can make it as good or better than Spidey 2 on PS2! It was enjoyable in AMS but nothing compared to the PS2 web swinging!

I am going to definitely pre-order this when it becomes available. I am so excited for this game! I wonder though if they will actually get Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone etc to do the voices this time or if it's going to be like the last TASM game.

I'd rather them not use the film actors as the voices as it seemed to work well with the first game! Plus sometimes the big A list actors don't always sound like they're enjoying it!

You have a point there. I know when playing Godfather II, Robert Duvall did the voice of Hagen and his performance came out sounding very flat and unethusatic.

I would rather have this on Vita but looks like that's not happening yet, even though the first one is coming out for it this year

I'm curious to see how they're going to handle the Rhino considering the way they had Rhino in the first game, and it appears Rhino will have different origins in this new film.

I agree with this, and I don't understand you always see games come out for 3DS and not VITA. They can easily port the exact game to VITA, whereas the DS version of the first one was basically just all the missions with lower res graphics. If they can make the first one, there is no reason not to release this one on VITA as well.

I am curious about that as well. I thought the design they gave Rhino in the first game was really good and am hoping they use the same effects for the actor playing him in the TASM 2 film.

They REALLY need to put in more comic costumes in the game. That's always been one of the best part of Spidey games. The selection in ASM was far too small and didn't even include any of the classic, more popular ones

I would like to know how do you unlock the Toby Maguire Spidey suit? That looked really cool.

The red and blue suit is unlocked only through the DLC I think. I know the black one you need to take a picture of a spider under one of the gazebos I think in a park. I know that doesn't help much but I'd you look up a guide or something for the exact location.

Thank you. Is the suit that Toby wore when he fought against Bone Saw DLC too? I remember seeing it advertised but never heard anything more about it.

I don't think they have that one in the game. The one that Andrew wears before he makes his costume is in it though its called the vigilante costume and that is also part of one of the DLC.

Really? Damn, that would have been an awesome to play the game in...oh well, what did you think of the varity of different costumes that you could unlock was pretty cool. I remember when I first heard that Andrew stated on Ellen that the costume was undergoing changes, I wondered if the costume shown in the game was going to be it. Granted it was same costume from before, just with a utility. I suppose it was the transition costume before he ended up making the traditional costume that we see now for TASM 2.

How was the Stan Lee DLC? I saw an interview involving The Amazing Spider-Man Video Game and Stan Lee said he had fun doing his cameo for it.

I unlocked all the costumes, however usually go back to the regular one. You can use it without the utility belt which I prefer. If you go into the closet in the Apartment and just select the standard suit again it will be without the utility belt, not sure if you know that.

+1

That would be awesome.

I love how you could do that in the old PS1 games.

Yeah, I knew about it. I found myself switching in between the movie costume and the suit w/ the utility belt off and on through out the game the first time I played it.
