First off I've always been a huge Panasonic plasma fan. However, a couple weeks back, I bought the LG 47LW5600. I got a great deal on it but I'm not so sure if I'm in love with the picture quality. It's got a nice picture and for the price but I am starting to feel like I didn't do my due diligence on this purchase.
Would the TC-P46ST30 be a better option? It would cost me roughly $100 more but if it's worth it, I'm more than willing to spend that. I'm curious to hear what you guys think |

My personal opinion, and I'm no expert, is go for the Panny. I have a Panny plasma and I love it. I will only ever buy plasmas until something better comes along. The colors are more saturated, blacks are deeper, much higher contrast ratio, smoother motion, great off-angle viewing, etc.
I am not wealthy, so I know saving $100 bucks can be a big deal, but for a purchase like this that could possibly last you decades, it would be worth the peace of mind to me. ![]() |

I support both relies to your post. And why hesitate if you are not happy with the PQ on the LG.Like frogmort says:100$ in the long run won't kill you,and is infact the better investment to not be kicking yourself for not getting the panny over price when it is a superior screen.
I have had 3 panny plasmas, and they've all been great.Naturally some greater than others since otherwise I would be a fool to get three ![]() |

Just bought a Panny ST30 and LOVE IT. Take that LED back, get the ST30 Plasma and enjoy the amazing PQ.
![]() I hear LG's 2011 plasmas are fantastic also, but I haven't seen any in action to make any claims myself. You're safe going with the Panasonic though. |

Do you guys know anything about the TC-46PGT24? I found one at Costco and it looked pretty good. It'd actually be $100 less than the LG
edit: I just returned the LG. Looks like I'm going to get some type of Panasonic Plasma Last edited by lakingshockey; 07-20-2011 at 04:30 AM. |

Iam very glad that plasma's always wins....Finally !
![]() But what is funny is the way plasma tv's,getting some kind of step motherly treatment by sales rep's in reputed shopping malls & brand shops.who keep insisting that lcds & leds are far superior in technology compared to the plasma tv. When this attitude is going to change,i do not know ? |

Congrats on your upcoming Panasonic purchase.
![]() I've looked at a couple of LEDs and while they're an improvement over LCD they're still no match for plasma. As far as sales people pushing LCD/LED over plasma, I guess its a case of the marketing of LCD/LED being more aggressive. I've had conversations with people who are in the market for TVs repeating the cons against plasma that sales personnel rattled off to them and I laugh. I can see the salespeople using these arguments because its part of their pitch, but its sad that the average consumer believes what they're being told and then spouts off opinions that are so uninformed. If you choose LCD/LED over plasma, fine, but use a more intelligent rationale than "burn-in" or leaking gas..... ![]() |

Go with the plasma, especially if you are not happy with the picture you currently have.
The only LED's that you should try to match up head-to-head with a plasma for PQ are the higher end offerings from the big companies that offer locally dimming LED technology. Even then (depending on the plasma) you may like the plasma picture better. You will be paying a lot more for the higher end LED LCDs though. |

If it's a big difference in price, don't discount the LG plasma sets. They have 24Hz native in all their plasmas and while they're a little more sensitive to IR in the break-in period (because perhaps none is done at the factory) they do have great performance.
My buddy picked up a 50" 1080p PK250 LG plasma for $599 last xmas. The 2011 models have received very positive reviews from all I've read. |

![]() I'm glad to see plasma doing so well, & people finally seeing the light! I love the comment about store employees saying plasma's is bad because of the gas leaking out!!! I'd love to come across a fricken mo mo like that. I'd laugh them right out of a job. ![]() ![]() |
